We called the project ‘Children Matter’ as the promotion of children as service users in their own right, entitled to a quality service. IT is the Main focus of our work.

WWA MEMBERS • 24 independent members across Wales • 223 refuge bed spaces • Last year 12, 274 adults & 4, 349 CYP referred to services • 1264 ADULTS with 805 CYP entered refuge, 292 turned away because no space
Why we are here
The numbers • 4. 6 M women have experienced domestic abuse in the uk since the age of 16 • 1 in 3 women experience domestic abuse in their lifetime • 2 women a week are killed by a partner or ex partner • younger women aged 16 -24 are most at risk • a woman is killed every 2. 4 days in the UK, with 148 UK women killed by men in 2014 • More than half of all victims of serious sexual assaults are assaulted by their partner or ex-partner • 750, 000 children and young people, across the UK witness or experience domestic abuse every year – 1 in 7
Every year in Wales : • Estimated 140 Female victims of FGM • 100 victims of forced marriage • Domestic abuse Will cost £ 304 m, its human and emotional cost totals an additional £ 523 m = £ 827 M total cost • in a school of 1, 000 children, made up equally of both genders, 250 of the girls and 180 of the boys will have experienced some form of violence from their boyfriend or girlfriend
