Finland Officially the Republic of Finland, is a country situated in Northern Europe. It is bordered by Sweden, Norway and Russia, while Estonia lies to its south across the Gulf of Finland.
The Politics The political system of Finland is defined by the Constitution. Finland is a presidential republic. According to the Constitution, the President of Finland is the head of state and responsible foreign policy in cooperation with the Cabinet. The current president is Tarja Halonen.
Around 5. 4 million people live in Finland. It is the eighth largest country in Europe in terms of area. The capital of Finland is Helsinki. The other large cities include Tampere, Turku, Oulu.
The Fauna The territory of Finland can be subdivided into three ecoregions: the Scandinavian and Russian taiga, mixed forests and Scandinavian birch forests and grasslands. Similarly, Finland has a diverse and extensive range of fauna. There are numerous native animal species, bird species, fish species and reptile species present today. Large and widely recognized wildlife mammals found in Finland are the brown bear, grey wolf, elk (moose) and reindeer. Of some seventy species of freshwater fish, the northern pike, perch, Atlantic salmon and others are plentiful.
The Climate The Finnish climate is suitable for grain farming in the southern regions. Finland has a humid and cool semicontinental climate, characterized by warm summers and freezing winters. The climate type in southern Finland is north temperature climate.
Summers in the southern Finland last 4 months (from the mid of May to mid of September). In northern Finland, particularly in Lapland, a subarctic climate dominates, characterized by cold winters and relatively warm, short summers. Winters in north Finland are nearly 7 months long. Summers in the north are quite short, only 2– 3 months.
The Population The population of Finland is over 5 million people. It is the third most sparsely populated country in Europe after Norway and Iceland. Finland's population has always been concentrated in the southern parts of the country. The share of foreign citizens in Finland is 2. 5% and most of them are from Russia, Estonia and Sweden.
Languages Finnish and Swedish are the national languages of Finland, although Finnish dominates in most parts of the country
The Lohimaa estate Lohimaa is a paradise for fishermen, but also for all lovers of outdoor activities. The Lohimaa fishing estate located in the heart of Finland in Tervo is known as one of the best Europe's salmon doorsteps. In winter in Lohimaa you are invited to: - ice fishing; - services of a professional guide / instructor; - snowmobile; - dog sledding safari; - hire skiing and ice skating equipment.
Patola 4**** The Patola cottages were built in 1999 -2001. These two-storey houses are located on the banks of the river rapids in the fishing Manor Lohimaa, which welcomes guests all year round. The area of each cottage is 150 sq. m. 4 bedrooms for 9+4 people. In the living room there is a table for 12 people, a fireplace, television, video, hi-fi.
In the kitchen there is a dishwasher, 2 refrigerators and a freezer, electric stove, microwave, coffee maker, electric kettle, toaster. The house has a sauna, three toilets, shower, hair dryer, washing machine, ironing board. Also in the cottage there is a room for cutting fish and a drying room. Electric heating, floor heating, hot and cold water. The walls and ceilings are wooden.
Restaurant The LOHIMAA RESTAURANT preserves an excellent impression of the rest of the fishing farm. The terrace offers excellent views of the rapids.
Fishing package Fishing is possible directly from the shore or from a small platform , as well as a specialized fishing boat. In the local store you will find a large selection of fishing gear. In the smokehouse of Lohimaa you can soot personally caught fish.
Professional guides and anglers are happy to talk about small fishing tricks. Russian-speaking guides are also available. Instructor Services upon request. Service languages: English, German, French and Russian. All necessary equipment can be rented.
