Helena Vondrachkova is now a pretty old woman. However, for a long time she was a symbol of Czech pop music She had been playing the piano since she was a little child. In 1964 she won a musical contest of young musicians. In 1977 she became a prizer of polish Sopot festival. She was very popular in the Soviet television. In 1993 Helena took the 5 th prize in Polish Sopot, having sung the song “Golden kids” In 2000 she again won Sopot contest. Now we are going to listen to the song “Malovany dzbanku”

Gipsy is a famous rapper. He lives in Czech Republic And usually plays hip hop His full name is Radoslav Banga Aka Gipsy. In 2005 -2007 he won a lot of prizes. He was born in 1982 and his childhood was not happy. Now he is a creator of 32 songs, and most of them are famous. I’m going to tell you about rock band by name Kabat The band started in a small town Teplitse and originally was an ordinary local group. Beginning from 1991 kabat got popular all over the country. It created some successful albums. In 2002 the band had a tour through different European countries. In 2007 Kabat took part in Eurovision. They were not successful and lost that competition.

All the teenagers know and love rock-music. But do you know anything about Folkmusic? Let me introduce you the musical band Czechomor, playing Czech, Morav and Slovak Folk songs. The band started in 1988. Its first album appeared in 1991. Beginning from 1994 the group has been moving from acustic to electric sounding. It’s interesting to notice, that Czechomor was the favourite musical group of the first President of Czech Republic Vaclav Gavel. Let’s listen to the song “Vcelin”
