HALLOWEEN • Halloween is celebrated on 31 October, the eve of all saints Day. Halloween is traditionally celebrated in English-speaking countries, although the official holiday is not.
LAMP JACK • The main symbol of the holiday is the socalled Lamp Jack. He is a pumpkin, which cut a sinister grinning face; inside the pumpkin is placed a lighted candle. For the first time "lighting Jack" appeared in the UK, but originally for their production used a Swede or turnip. It was believed that such fruit left in all saints Day around the house will repel from him the evil spirits. When the tradition of celebrating Halloween has spread in the United States, lamps were made of pumpkins, more accessible and affordable
COSTUMES • The clothing in costumes is a relatively recent element of the holiday. Costumes for Halloween has evolved greatly over the past century. The original costumes were ugly emaciated images of people's faces. It looked festive and not scary enough. However, by early 2000 the costumes acquired increasingly vivid images and the celebration turned into a show. The main theme of the costumes for Halloween are different evil spirits or supernatural characters, however popular and suits completely arbitrary subjects, although the main motive continues to be the most common. THE TRICK-OR-TREAT • The tradition of dressing up in costumes and walk from house to house, begging for sweets, appeared in the middle Ages and was originally to do with Christmas. In England Ireland poor from its very beginning went from house to house and begging for the so-called "spiritual cakes" on all saints ' Day (1 November), promising in return to pray for the souls of deceased relatives of the owners
FESTIVE TABLE • Since the holiday falls on the harvest time of apples, most Halloween sweets based on apples. Specially for the celebration prepare Apple caramel, apples in syrup (sometimes with the addition of nuts), toffee Apple. First, there was a tradition to give the children apples-candy, but it faded quickly because of the urban legend that said that in such an evil candy people put pins and needles.
