CODATA and the Global Risk Identification Program • New program of the United Nations CODATA and the Global Risk Identification Program • New program of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) aimed at improving global, regional, and national disaster risk assessment and management – Coordination with the Pro. Vention Consortium, International Strategy for Disaster Reduction (ISDR), the World Bank, etc. • CODATA may have a role in scientific peer review and science community input into risk assessment process beginning in 2007

Challenges Facing CODATA • CODATA has the potential to serve with other organizations as Challenges Facing CODATA • CODATA has the potential to serve with other organizations as a vehicle of development in the least developed regions, particularly in increasing the quality and spread of education. • There is a great scope in integrating traditional knowledge base with the main stream in a transparent and ethical manner.
