Education Career Partnership (ECP) Mission Statement • Strengthen the link between secondary and postsecondary education • Maximize the successful seamless transition of students from one educational level • Increase student academic, career and technical achievement • Prepare students to advance to a successful career
Overview of FY 2009 Flexible Education Career Partnership Grant Options • Option 1. Single System---Employ or contract with a consultant and develop articulation agreements with postsecondary schools and to assist in career pathway development. • Option 2. Consultant Emphasis---Commit some/all of local system funds to pool with other local systems to hire a consultant for a specific task. • Option 3. Secondary Partnership---Combine the system’s local allotment with other school systems in an area to fund a part/full time person to be the education career partnership coordinator of the grant.
Overview of ECP Grant Options (cont. ) • Option 4. RESA Emphasis--Contribute some/all ECP funding to the area RESA. • Option 5. Postsecondary Emphasis--- Contribute some/all ECP funding to the postsecondary institution. Funds would be combined for a position to carry out grant responsibilities. • Option 6. Local System---Develop a curriculum for a regionally-determined pathway that incorporates academic skills, standards of performance, and an assessment of technical skill attainment. • Option 7. Combined Options Emphasis---Create a combination of possible options to address multiple system needs.

Meeting Perkins IV Technical Skill Attainment v March 14 th marks the conclusion of the Phase I End-of-Pathway Assessment Development Process The process entailed: § Ensuring that Subject Matter Expert (SME) teams included representation from secondary, post-secondary, CTAE Administrators and state-level program specialists; and, § Working with the seven different SME groups to identify and/or modify national, third-party exams which aligns with Georgia Performance Standards (GPS) and includes industry validated assessment items. Career Related Education (CRE) Implementation Grants 2007 Twenty-one (21) applicants, seven (7) for each region of the 08 state (north, central, south) were awarded grants in 20072008 to serve as pilot sites: North – Cherokee, Coweta, Hall, Oconee, Social Circle City, Stephens, Whitfield Central - Baldwin, Bibb, Muscogee, Peach, Spalding, Pike, Washington South – Ben-Hill, Coffee, Colquitt, Early, Effingham, Montgomery, Wayne Systems agree to implement the CRE model school-wide according to the new Career-Related Education manual with one school-wide Work-Based Learning Coordinator. JROTC Program Update • FTE Funding Reminders – May be “K” weight funding. – Program must meet criteria for “K” weight Ø Health and Physical Education – New Graduation Rule – Beginning with the incoming 9 th Graders in Fall 20082009, JROTC students must meet the following conditions in order to satisfy Health and PE graduation requirement Ø A student must earn 3 units of credit in JROTC Ø JROTC courses must include Comprehensive Health and Physical Education Rule requirements in rule 160 -4 -. 12; and Ø The local Board of Education must approve the use of JROTC courses to satisfy the required unit in health and JROTC
