The 5 things you need to know • Operation PALADIN has been declared non-warlike The 5 things you need to know • Operation PALADIN has been declared non-warlike service WEF 21 April 2003. • If you are assigned for duty to Operation PALADIN and inside the specified area then all relevant Co. S apply. • Outside this area? Depending on the reason, some Co. S may no longer apply. • The current Deployment Allowance rates are: – Egypt, Israel, Jordan and Lebanon - $87. 15 per day. – Syria - $159. 58 per day. – These rates could increase or decrease so don’t make significant financial decisions based on this amount! • The length of your deployment may affect some non-financial Co. S like leave, removals, taxation concessions and housing contributions. Correct as at 02 Nov 17

Entitlements to Co. S • The specified area of operations for Operation PALADIN is Entitlements to Co. S • The specified area of operations for Operation PALADIN is shown in the next slide. • Why do you need to know this? Well if you’re outside the specified area, then in most circumstances your Co. S entitlement will cease. • You’re also not entitled to Co. S if you’re not assigned for operational duty to Operation PALADIN. Your DEPORD or TASKORD will indicate if you’re assigned for operational / non-operational (visitor) duty. Correct as at 02 Nov 17

Deployment Allowance – temporary absences • You will continue to receive Deployment Allowance if Deployment Allowance – temporary absences • You will continue to receive Deployment Allowance if you are temporarily absent from the specified area for reasons related to operational service. • These reasons include: – Recreation or War service leave – often in conjunction with Relief Out of Country Travel Fares Assistance (ROCTFA) – Acting as a Medical escort • It is not payable for absences for non-operational reasons such as compassionate leave or disciplinary return to Australia. If you return to the specified area to commence operational duty again, Deployment Allowance will re-commence. Correct as at 02 Nov 17

S • Other allowances may continue to be paid where applicable: – Separation Allowances – Special Forces Disability – Flying Allowance – Maritime Allowances • Field Allowance applications are to be submitted to DGSPT (J 1/4) HQJOC for approval IAW PACMAN requirements, providing the stipulated threshold criterion of 'living in the field' has been met. • Meals and Accommodation may be provided in the specified area. • If meals are not provided – TA (including incidentals) can be paid (see PACMAN 17. 7. 12 for more detail). • The United Nations may provide Mission Subsistence Allowance (MSA) for personnel deployed to the UN Mission. When MSA is paid by the UN, no ADF TA is applicable. Correct as at 02 Nov 17

Defence APS Employees • Employees receive operational support allowance for each day or part Defence APS Employees • Employees receive operational support allowance for each day or part of a day they are in either of these situations. – in the operational area, and – on leave during their period of duty but only if the leave taken is not greater than the leave credit accrued for the period of duty. – Full details in Chapter 17 Part 8 Division 1 • Current OSA rate: – $159. 98 or $87. 15 per day • Relief Out of Country Travel Fares Assistance (ROCTFA). – APS employees are eligible for ROCTFA in accordance with PACMAN Chapter 17 Part 8 Division 2 Correct as at 02 Nov 17

Paid at the rate of $20, 955 pro rata – full details in PACMAN Chapter 17 Part 8 Division 4 • Leave for APS Employees: – an additional 10 days annual leave for duty in a specified area, pro rata pa, and – 1 day additional annual leave for every 10 days of service paid OSA; to a maximum of 10 days pa. • Compensation – Covered under the provisions of the Safety Rehabilitation and Compensation Act for death, injury or illness; except while on leave outside the specified area.
