Requirements for Segregation & Volume Reduction ü Separate containers for compostables, recyclables, special wastes and residuals ü Separate collection schedules / separate trucks or haulers / compartmentalized collection vehicles ü Material Recovery Facilities for recyclables & biodegradables ü Inventory of markets for composts and recyclables
Recycling Program ü Environmentally preferable purchase ü Specifications, product descriptions and standards ü Eco-labeling ü Non-environmentally acceptable products ü Reclamation programs and buy-back centers
Management of Residuals & Final Disposal Sites Ø Closure of all open dumpsites Ø Conversion of all open dumpsites to controlled dumps within 3 years Ø Minimum requirements in siting, designing and operation of disposal sites Ø Sanitary landfills
Prohibited Acts Violation ØLittering, throwing and dumping of waste matters in public places and water bodies ØOpen burning of solid waste Fines/Penalties P 300 – P 1, 000 Or Community service between 1 – 15 days P 300 – P 1, 000 Or Imprisonment of 1 – 15 days

Prohibited Acts Violation Ø Construction, expansion or operation of waste management facilities without an Environmental Compliance Certificate Ø Construction of any establishment within 200 meters from open or controlled dump sites and sanitary landfills ØConstruction or operation of landfills or any waste disposal facility within or near an aquifer, groundwater reservoir or watershed Fines/Penalties P 100, 000 – P 1 M Or Imprisonment of 1 to 6 years
