Class Routines & Reminders PE lessons Swimming will be on Wednesday, please send in trunks/costume, towel, swimming hat and ensure earrings are removed. After half term we will send out information regarding new PE days, we may still do PE occasionally before half term so ensure kit is always in school. Home Learning: Challenge 5: This will be continue to be given out on a Friday and due in on a Monday. Superhero X tables: Practice sheets will be given out every Friday and class teachers need to see these have been done by Thursday the following week. When children ‘defeat’ a superhero they will get a certificate and move to the next level. Spellings: These will be given out every Monday and tested on the Friday. Reading : Your child will also be bringing a reading book home with them every night. Please encourage them to read out loud to increase their expression when reading. Asking them questions about their book such as a characters thoughts or feelings will aid their understanding. Also during reading, encourage your child to find WOW words or phrases to ‘magpie’ and bring into class to share. Medicines: If your child needs medicine for any reason, we can only administer medicines which are accompanied by a prescription. They must be taken to the school office in the morning and a form filled out, they can not be sent into school with your child. Messages Please write any messages in your child's diary, we will check these throughout the week. If it is a urgent message please ask your child to bring the diary to us. Quick matters can be discussed at the end of the day on the playground however, for more in depth discussions an appointment must be booked through the office. Snacks/Water Bottles Please send your child with fruit if they wish to have a healthy snack at breal. This term our learning will be focused around ‘Brave Warriors’. Geography/History In topic lessons we will be learning all about the interesting history of the Romans and the Celts. We will investigate what life was like and how it differed from today. D. T In D. T we will be looking at and evaluating food packaging before producing our own. PE Through Spring term 1 the children will be swimming every Wednesday. After half term we will continue to follow the Real PE scheme of work building essential skills. Maths will cover a range of areas: formal methods of addition, subtraction, multiplication and division including using these to solve problems. We will then be looking at angles including parallel and perpendicular lines. We will build on our fraction knowledge from terms 1&2 by exploring equivalent fractions. Science In spring term 1, we will be following the topic: ‘Animals – including humans’. This will cover types of nutrition, skeleton and bone structure and muscles In spring term 2, we will studying ‘Solids. Liquids and Gases. ’ This will include evaporation and water cycler as well as looking at changes between state. Art As part of the Brave Warrior topic in Art we will be creating our own Roman inspired mosaics. Computing We will be revisiting the children’s learning on E-safety from Year 2 and then developing this to ensure the children have age appropriate knowledge to stay safe on line. This will culminate with the production of an e-safety poster. Music In music this term we be learning to play the recorder, as part of this we will be looking at reading music and what different types of notes mean. French This term we have started to learn French. We are beginning with basic introductions and ‘getting to know you’ questions. Literacy We will be revisiting character and setting descriptions using the new language devices learnt during the Autumn term. The children will create their own warrior which they will describe and then write a story for. Following this we will be looking at Non-chronological and chronological reports inspired by a group of unlikely warriors. We will also have weekly SPa. G (Spelling, Punctuation and Grammar) lessons to Handwriting We will be taking part in weekly handwriting lessons, working towards consistently joining our writing.
