CK 60 vs. MC 3000 Comparison CK 31 Refresh MC 9000 (9090) Summary Features Advantage Speeds and Feeds Processor Operating System MC 9000 (processor model – not generation) Even Display Even Memory CK 60 - +33%-+67% more memory and offers 128 MB RAM Expansion Even Environmental Drop Even Sealing Even Operating Temperature Even Weight Even Size CK 60 -. 45” shorter Integrated Technologies Integrated Scanner Options MC 9000 (with long range (Lorax) scanning only) WLAN Options CK 60 – CCX 2 Bluetooth CK 60 – v 2 with EDR ~ 3 x Faster WWAN MC 9000 (700 series exceeds with CDMA offer) Device Management CK 60 – Non-Proprietary
MC 9000 (9090) Advantage over CK 60 MC 9000 Strengths Intermec Counter (Symbol Value Proposition) Newer Processor – 624 Mhz PXA 270 XScale (Bulverde) vs. CK 60 PXA 272 Technology evolves quickly – last to make a final decision gets the latest model. Both MC 9000 and CK 60 offer processors from PXA 27 x class. Both carry same internal bus speeds. The 100 Mhz difference in external clock speeds should not produce a difference to end user applications. Advantage of PXA 272 processor is that NOR ROM flash is integrated on chip package. CK 60 memory architecture provides an additional customer application storage space that provides option for faster, nonvolatile read requirements. (NOR technologies provide faster reads than NAND). CK 60 provides NOR and NAND (128 MB Diskonchip). MC 9000 only NAND. In addition, CK 60 offers 128 MB RAM. Overall, CK 60 offers a total of 33 -67% more memory. Lorax – Long Range Scanning Symbol is strongly positioning the Lorax (near/far) scanner, as it is a known gap in our scanning engine product line. Unfortunately, they are even recommending when it is not appropriate for customers scanning requirements. Remember: … 1) near/far capabilities reduces scan angle and therefore ability to scan long codes in near range 2) The engine is 30% larger than standard and bigger back on device 3) Two motors = double failure points 4) Uses 3 x more power than standard scanner. WWAN The 700 Series continues to support the WWAN capabilities. Updates to support the EDGE technologies planned for mid-2006 release. In addition, 700 Series offers CDMA option. MC 9090 supports EDGE & i. DEN. Defined RFID Strategy Fork truck and 700 Series RFID options are currently available. Additional RFID strategies to be announced.
CK 60 Advantage over MC 9000 (9090) CK 60 Winning Strengths Benefit Rugged The CK 60 meets or exceeds the most rugged, mobile handheld standards currently in the market. If needed, Intermec’s customer replaceable rubber bumpers design allows for the ability to “refresh” the device drop-ability – maximizing the products life cycle. Memory Architecture For memory architecture, the CK 60 stands in a class of it’s own. Offering 33%-67% more memory that our current competitors – 64/128 RAM, 64 ROM, 128 M On-Board Persistent Store (plus SD options)– the CK 60 is designed and optimized to protect the data for those mobile applications requiring significant amounts of localized storage and large amounts of remote keying input. It is also the only device to currently offer 128 MB RAM. Flexible Intermec’s strategy for customer installable scan handles makes the ability to re-purpose the CK 60 simple. Our “ 1/4 Turn Lock & Latch System” requires no tools, yet stays on during drop. This allows the CK 60 to easily migrate between scan-intensive or high data input applications. CCX 2 In addition to meeting the CCX 2 wireless networking protocols, Intermec’ s alliance with the primary provider of wireless infrastructure technologies (Cisco) provides our customers confidence in knowing that the CK 60 will work on a Cisco backbone. (go to http: //tools. cisco. com/cmn/jsp/index. jsp? id=46863 for additional details on the Cisco/Intermec alliance. ) Smart. Systems™ Intermec’s own Smart. Systems client comes loaded on all CK 60 configurations. Making all Intermec devices “easy to use, ” this free software utility allows for enabling all device settings via a free, non-proprietary Smartsystems console.
