WHAT QUALIFICATIONS ARE AVAILABLE? A suite of 10 flexible qualifications 4 levels: Entry 2, Entry 3, Level 1, Level 2 3 sizes: Award, Certificate and Diploma (Entry 3/Level 1) Entry 2 Award in Employability and Personal Development Entry 3 Award in Employability and Personal Development Level 1 Award in Employability and Personal Development Level 2 Award in Employability and Personal Development Entry 2 Certificate in Employability and Personal Development Entry 3 Certificate in Employability and Personal Development Level 1 Certificate in Employability and Personal Development Level 2 Certificate in Employability and Personal Development Entry 3 Diploma in Employability and Personal Development Level 1 Diploma in Employability and Personal Development © CITY & GUILDS
HOW ARE UNITS ASSESSED? Employability/PSD units • Assessed by a portfolio of candidate’s evidence, which is • assessed and verified internally • externally verified by City & Guilds • Unit handbooks suggest types of evidence that may be produced • Vocational taster units (not available in the Level 2 qualifications) NPTC units • Practical activities - assessed by observation of tasks or activities • Knowledge evidence – assessed by variety of methods appropriate to learner eg oral questioning, centre devised worksheet etc. Retail, catering and hospitality units • Assessed by assignment Look at assessment methodology for each unit carefully © CITY & GUILDS

QUALIFICATION STRUCTURE Award 9 credits 15 credits 6 credits from the 2 mandatory units (Planning for Entry 2, Entry 3, Level 1 qualifications Certificate 6 credits from the 2 mandatory units progression and Effective skills, qualities and attitudes for learning and work, both at the level of the qualification itself) 3 credits from the optional units (Planning for progression and Effective skills, qualities and attitudes for learning and work, both at the level of the qualification itself) 9 credits from the optional units Minimum of 3 of these 9 credits must be at the level of the qualification or above Note: Maximum of 3 credits out of the total 15 credits can come from the vocational taster units Level 2 qualifications 7 credits 13 credits Note: the different structure at Level 2 3 credits from the 1 mandatory unit (Effective skills, qualities and attitudes for learning and work at Level 2) 4 credits from the optional units Minimum of 1 of these 4 credits must be at the level of the qualification or above © CITY & GUILDS 10 credits from the optional units Minimum of 4 of these 10 credits must be at the level of the qualification or above
QUALIFICATION STRUCTURE Diploma Entry 3 qualification 39 credits (2 mandatory units at Entry 3 provide 6 credits, plus 33 credits from a choice of Entry 2, Entry 3 and Level 1 optional units) Note A maximum of 3 credits is allowed from the vocational taster units (801 -817) Level 1 qualification 39 credits (2 mandatory units at Level 1 provide 6 credits, plus 33 credits from a choice of Entry 3, Level 1 and Level 2 optional units) Note A maximum of 9 credits is allowed from the vocational taster units (805 -817, 822 -862) © CITY & GUILDS
THE MANDATORY UNITS FOR THE ENTRY 2, ENTRY 3, LEVEL 1 QUALIFICATIONS TWO mandatory units for both the Award and the Certificate at Entry 2, Entry 3 and Level 1 TWO mandatory units for the Diploma at Entry 3 and Level 1 201/301/401 (3 credits each) Planning for progression 202/302/402 (3 credits each) Effective skills, qualities and attitudes for learning and work Both units must be claimed at the same level as the qualification © CITY & GUILDS
THE OPTIONAL UNITS FOR THE ENTRY 2, ENTRY 3, LEVEL 1 QUALIFICATIONS THREE credits from one or more optional units for an Award The optional unit(s) can be at the same level as - or a level above or below the mandatory units. NINE credits from three or more optional units* for a Certificate At least three credits must be at the same level as the qualification or above *Maximum of 3 credits can be from the vocational taster units THIRTY THREE credits from a choice of Entry 2, Entry 3 and Level 1 optional units* *Maximum of 3 credits is allowed from the vocational taster units (801 -817) © CITY & GUILDS
