CITT CENTRUM FÜR INFORMATIONS-TECHNOLOGIE TRANSFER GMBH ED-BPM in the Automotive Domain Next-Generation Navigation Systems Based on CEP and Location-Based, Value-Added Services Presentation IBM, Haifa, Israel, 03. March 2009 Thomas Ertlmaier 1
AGENDA 1. 2. 3. 4. 5. 6. Location Based Services in the Automotive Domain Original Idea of the Po. C Adaption of the ED-BPM Reference Model Architecture of the Po. C Demonstration Thomas Ertlmaier 2
LOCATION BASED SERVICES n Fundamentals on Location Based Services ¨ can be applied to a variety of sources, e. g. Mobiles, GPS-Systems, Websites, … ¨ deliver services in reference of the current / desired location ¨ services can appear as places, activities or any kind of information ¨ the content enrichment is almost independent of the used device ¨ examples are the „Home Zone“, Emergency Call Localization, POIs on GPS-Systems Thomas Ertlmaier 3
LOCATION BASED SERVICES IN THE AUTOMOTIVE DOMAIN n Thoughts on LBS in the Automotive Domain ¨ from the customer point of view real time and up to date information while on the road n value added services on the fly n ¨ from the vendor point of view gain an unique selling proposition n separation of concern, decrease overload of the bus n obtain more information about the vehicles and the customers n allign with Gartner prognosis from Thilo Koslowski: „Vehicle Navigation Must Evolve or Face Commoditization” n Thomas Ertlmaier 4
ORIGINAL IDEA OF CEP & AUTOMOTIVE NAVIGATION SYSTEMS n Paco Gomez from Oracle Corp. built a tutorial on location based services n Anton Kramm, formerly at Audi, initiated a Proof of Concept with Audi and CITT n rather than letting the Po. C face extinction we kept it alive and gave it a new infrastructure Thomas Ertlmaier 5
