SC C 6 - Distribution Systems and Dispersed Generation - Scope Ø Assessment of the technical impacts and requirements that a more widespread adoption of DG and variable generation (RES) could impose on the structure and operation of the T&D systems. Ø Determine solutions likely to be adopted in short, medium and long term. Ø Issues like rural electrification, Demand Side Management, use of storage are also included. The final version is to be sent to the SC by the end of 2008. Material may be included in tutorial. TB for 2009. A. Gole (U of Man. ) WG C 6. 05 Tech. and economic Impact of Intermittent Generation on T&D Systems. Convener (G. Strbac) changed positions and not much work was done. An Electra article is planned for 2009 possibly with C 6. 08. T. Molinski (Man. Hydro) WG C 6. 08 Integration of Large Share of Fluctuating Generation Report considers congestion management, frequency control, regulatory and support strategies. Draft report circulated to SC in 2008. TB will be published in 2009 and tutorial developed for 2009 IEEE/CIGRE symp. D. WG C 6. 10 Technical and commercial standardisation of DER/microgrids components none Work is proposed to focus on interfacing/communication issues. Linked to EU More-Microgrids project. No meetings held in past year and minimal participation via email. WG may be abandoned in 2009. WG C 6. 11 Development and operation of active distribution networks Survey was issued and results analyzed. Survey results will be published in Electra article in 2009. TB expected in 2010. Iosfin (BC Hydro) WG prepared 10 papers for Malaysia symposium in 2007 and a symposium summary paper was published in Electra. A scoping paper was written and will be published in Electra. The WG will likely disband in 2009 and become a permanent Advisory group. JWG C 6. 14/ C 3. 05 Environmental Impact of Dispersed Generation none Slow progress; few participants.
