Chinese Taipei APEC Engineer § Two Years of Significant Experience – Project name : XXX Company - XXX Project – Personal contribution and responsibilities: In charge of planning, basic design and cost evaluation of electrical facilities of 40 MW× 2 hydropower plant and control system of hydromechanics. 17
Chinese Taipei APEC Engineer § Two Years of Significant Experience – Problems Faced : The owner requested two(2) main transformers in the underground power plant must be moved to the outdoor switchyard for the safety consideration. However, there were no sufficient space to equip them. – Solution found: After the preliminary discussion with civil engineer, there was enough space right above the top of the mountain of underground power plant to accommodate the whole outdoor switchyard including the 2 main transformers. 18
Chinese Taipei APEC Engineer § Two Years of Significant Experience – Judgments made : Carried out the following evaluations: 1. The equipment layout space 2. Transmission line loss between the underground power plant and the over ground switchyard 3. Power connection between the switchyard and the transmission line 4. The equipment haulage and their maintenance space 5. The transportation of the maintenance personnel 6. The cost of the equipment and civil work etc. It was confirmed that the outdoor switchyard including 2 main transformers might all be moved to the top of the mountain located around 170 m. high above the underground power plant. . 19

Chinese Taipei APEC Engineer § Two Years of Significant Experience – Impact generated : Under the proper attention to both safety and the economical consideration, the Client obtained a modernized hydro power station. 21
Chinese Taipei APEC Engineer Three (3) Elective Experiences Claimed 22
Chinese Taipei APEC Engineer § Three Elective Experience Claimed (1) – Project name : XXX Company - XXX Project – Personal contribution and responsibilities: In charge of planning, basic design and cost evaluation of electrical facilities and control system of hydro mechanical equipment. 23
Chinese Taipei APEC Engineer § Three Elective Experience Claimed (1) – Problems faced: The path to the XX dam was interrupted frequently because of weather influence ( slope sliding), and it caused the unstable electricity supply and the difficulty of the operation of hydro mechanical equipment in the dam area if the power cable and optical fiber were installed by overhead line method. – Solution found: To install the power cable and optical fiber by using the XX creek diversion tunnel in order to meet the operation requirements 24
Chinese Taipei APEC Engineer § Three Elective Experience Claimed (1) – Judgments made : Considering the benefits and cost of different type of the installation method for power cable and optical fiber : 1. By embedded conduits along the path to the dam. 2. By cable tray going through the XX creek diversion tunnel to the dam. After confirmation with hydraulic engineer, reserving enough installation space on the top of without water portion of the XX creek diversion tunnel in the length of about 2. 2 km would be reserved. 25
Chinese Taipei APEC Engineer § Three Elective Experience Claimed (1) XX creek diversion tunnel XX dam XXX Lake 26
Chinese Taipei APEC Engineer § Three Elective Experience Claimed (1) – Impact generated : Experienced typhoons strike and the avalanche of the pathway, after the project was completed, the electrical supply and remote control of all the hydro mechanical equipment won’t be interrupted. 27
Chinese Taipei APEC Engineer § Three Elective Experience Claimed (2) – Project Name : XXX Company – XXX Project – Personal contribution and responsibilities: In charge of planning, basic design and cost evaluation of electrical facilities of hydropower plant and switchyard. 28

Chinese Taipei APEC Engineer § Three Elective Experience Claimed (2) – Problems faced: The original switchyard located at the area adjacent to the XX river was threatened by flood. – Solution found : Suggests to remove the switchyard to the XXX Center, which locates much higher than the original location. – judgments made: 1. In cooperating with hydraulic engineer to carry out the evaluation of the flood probability. 2. Estimating the power cable line loss between the underground power plant and the over ground switchyard. 30

Chinese Taipei APEC Engineer § Three Elective Experience Claimed (2) – judgments made: 3. Estimating the best connection way to the existed transmission line 4. Estimated the best connection way to the existed transmission line. 5. Estimated the equipment haulage, the maintenance space, the transportation of the maintenance personnel. 6. Evaluated the cost of the equipment and civil work etc. It is finally agreed by the Client that the switchyard shall be moved to the proposed place. 32
Chinese Taipei APEC Engineer § Three Elective Experience Claimed (2) Existed S. Y (20 xx) New S. Y (20 xx) 33
Chinese Taipei APEC Engineer § Three Elective Experience Claimed (2) – Impact generated : 1. To ensure that the power output of the rehabilitation of hydro power plant will never be influenced by the flood. 2. It has already passed the tests of typhoons and heavy rain from last year to present. 34
Chinese Taipei APEC Engineer § Three Elective Experience Claimed (3) – Project name : XXX Project – Personal contribution and responsibilities: In charge of planning, basic design and cost evaluation of electrical facilities and control system of hydromechanics, etc. – Problems faced: In traditional designation, the cooling media of the air cooler for generator must be relied on clean water. The owner concerned about the muddy water of XX river would cause the cooling problem of the generator unit. 35
Chinese Taipei APEC Engineer § Three Elective Experience Claimed (3) 36
Chinese Taipei APEC Engineer § Three Elective Experience Claimed (3) – Solution found: Adopted the circulation type cooling method in order not to use the muddy water directly. – judgment made By discussing with the manufacturer of the generator, it has finally accepted to install the water to water heat exchanger in the tailrace tunnel, and the after cooling water was circulated back to the air cooler in the power house by the circulating pumps. 37
Chinese Taipei APEC Engineer § Three Elective Experience Claimed (3) 38
Chinese Taipei APEC Engineer § Three Elective Experience Claimed (3) - Impact generated: 1. Though the circulation type cooling method caused the increase of station service power, the quality of the cooling water is satisfied. 2. It has been working smoothly since Dec. 20 xx. 39
