Chinese is one of the most ancient languages

The Chinese language has plenty of dialects, which are divided into 10 groups. The differences between dialects are so great the inhabitants of one province of China, can’t understand the people of another. There is a theory according to which the Chinese can’t be called a common language. According to some linguists, it is a family of languages.

The regulatory Chinese language, used by speakers of different dialects during communication with each other, is «Putonghua» based on the norms of the Beijing dialect. In Western countries it is called «Mandarin». Putonghua is the official language of China. In Taiwan the official language is «guoyu» , and Singapore «huayu». The difference between these three languages is small, their speakers understand each other.

The Chinese language has are about 100 thousand hieroglyphs.

The hieroglyphs are very similar to each other. They differ sometimes by only one dash.

It is believed that the Chinese language is spoken by around 1. 4 billion people. Most of them live in China, Taiwan and Singapore. Also a lot of Chinese communities can be found worldwide, they are on all continents. Most Chinese communities are in North America, Western Europe, Asia and Australia. Very few of them are in South America.

The importance of the Chinese in the world is constantly increasing, with the development of China and the growing influence of this country on the global economy. The possession of Chinese language is an additional advantage in the future in business, science or politics
