ABOUT YOGIVEMANA UNIVERSITY ABOUT THE SEMINAR AND OBJECTIVES RENOWNED SPEAKERS Yogi Vemana Univeristy is an emerging premier State University located at vemanapuram, 15 Km away from Kadapa city on the Kadapa. Pulivendula Road. Genetics and Genomics in the twenty-first century has its impact on almost every aspects of human life like medicine, food, fuel and environment with major implications on present and future economic expectations. It is an emerging field to the scientific minds to explore the unraveled concepts of life. Further it provides an essential intellectual link between the fundamental process that drive genetic function and applications to meet the challenges faced by the society. Prof. C. Sudhakar, Dept. of Botany The main Objectives of the University are (i) Creation and dissemination of knowledge, (ii) Attainment of enlightened wisdom through advancement of learning, (iii) Progress and prosperity of people and social enrichment with a core values of (i) Basic moral and ethical standards in pursuit of true knowledge. , (ii) Academic freedom and debate, (iii) A challenging academic and research environment. The University has adequate infrastructural facilities viz. , majestic buildings with modern architecture and laboratories with sophisticated instruments and hostels with modern amenities in a serene atmosphere. ABOUT DEPARTMENT Department of Genetics and Genomics was established in 2010 and offering two year M. Sc course in semester pattern. The designed course structure covering the latest developments in areas of Genetics and Genomics and helps students to gain knowledge and research skills with high potential to compete in academics and industrial areas at National and International scenario. The department is also offering full time Ph. D programme in the thrust research areas of Genetics and Genomics. A team of highly-qualified, experienced faculty members in the department specialized in thrust research areas of Immunogenetics, Viral genetics, Microbial genetics, Plant biotechnology Animal Biotechnology and Genomics, have a great passion to share their knowledge with the students and collaborate with other departments of Life Sciences. National Seminar on Emerging Trends in Genetics and Genomics will provide a unique platform for scientists/experts from academic and industry nationwide to catalyze the networking between the various branches of Genomics. The seminar is aimed to facilitate the discussions on latest and relevant developments in interrelated sciences including Plant Genomics, Infectious diseases, Agriculture genetics, Viral Genomics, etc. , to achieve common scientific goals. This seminar will bring together the leading experts in various areas to deliver lectures and discuss even on future direction. The seminar will be useful to the faculty and students interested in all fields of genetics, genomics and biotechnology. The lectures/presentations during the seminar will highlight the significance on the following topics.
