PURPOSE OF THE CA ACADEMY • To alleviate current shortage of financial skills – The CAA would assist in alleviating the current shortage of financial skills in the public sector. • To develop in-house skills – Trainees obtain valuable Public sector experience; • To provide career opportunity – CA Academy will provide opportunities for current employees to further their careers and acquire recognition with SAICA.
PURPOSE OF THE CA ACADEMY (CONT. ) • To provide a pool of financial resources. – CAA will result in a pool of in-house accountants available to select for placements in the public sector. • To recruit best graduates – National Treasury has the opportunity to recruit high potential graduates from the marketplace before they have a chance to join any other company.
PRIMARY SITES – Primary sites refers to any government institutions that are part of the CAA through a signed MOU. – The following institutions are CAA primary sites: • City of Joburg Metropolitan Municipality since 2010 • City of Cape Town Metropolitan Municipality since 2010 • e. Thekwini Metropolitan Municipality since 2010, and • Department of Home Affairs since 2012 – National Treasury remains responsible for all administrative matters.

Pervasive professional skills ADVANCED EXPERIENCE – enough time to achieve a comprehensive understanding and application of the concepts and techniques with demonstrated competence in complex situations or environments
