BUILDING A BETTER BUDGET § Project proposals should have clear narrative justification. • Stay away from boilerplate language. • Provide clear description of project justification and benefits. § Is the request for design only or design and construction? • If for design only, request should cover only the design services. Construction management should be requested when construction funds are requested. § Identify operating costs both one-time and ongoing. § Projects of $5 million or more require predesigns and design. § Bond fund and cash flow estimates are required. § Updated minor works project lists are required. § Costs estimates • Extra services • Project management • Project contingencies • Projects on a SF basis JUNE 6, 2013 OFFICE OF FINANCIAL MANAGEMENT
