Project Summary The are many technologies for reduction greenhouse gases emissions in ferrous metallurgy. Their potential for GHG reduction and cost efficiency vary in wide range for different enterprises. It makes prioritisation of technologies a difficult task. Our target is to help decision-making for the modernisation of steel industry towards reaching requirements for the greenhouse gases emissions. To reach this target we are developing the software. Currently the model is being developed in Excel and 3 Dmax and it can help calculate greenhouse gases emissions from metallurgical enterprises and estimate possible GHG reduction, achieved through modernisation of technologies and equipment. We aim to bring integrated software, enabling visualisation and decisionmaking support.
Problems, which can be solved in this project -Ukraine has worlds biggest potential to reduce energy consumption, however investment possibilities are limited; therefore prioritisation of Best Available Technologies is needed; -A number of breakthrough technologies enabling radical reduction of GHG emissions are being developed, however their potential in relationship to country specific issues is not clear; -Investment decision-makers are usually not engineers – simple and convincing tool is needed to support the decision
