E-Learning Course o Created by a collaborative effort of the thirteen western states o Four interactive, self-paced online training modules, complete with review: About 4 -H Positive Youth Development Getting Started in 4 -H Leadership and Teaching o For whom: potential volunteers; new, current and reentering 4 -H volunteers; others who want to learn more about 4 -H.
E-Learning Course o Why online: available anytime, anywhere; timely information updates; easy to access and use; instant feedback; can return to review information. o Key benefits: ability to reach more learners; more consistent, quality instruction; selfpaced interactive learning; increased knowledge retention; cost-effective way to train; reduces staff delivery time; ready to use.
E-Learning Course o Located on New Mexico 4 -H web site o Click on “Adult Volunteer Leaders” tab on left of 4 -H home page. o Complete online application to receive password.
Reviews & County Notification o Complete each module; score of module review is not viewed by anyone except the person completing the review. Certificate for each module can be printed after completion. o County Office is notified when modules have been completed. If county office needs volunteer contact information they can notify Linda Schultz.

NM 4 -H Adult Forum Registration Scholarships o Sponsored by the New Mexico 4 -H Youth Development Foundation o At the early bird registration rate o Must submit completed registration form with payment in addition to the scholarship application form (1 page) o Receive check from Foundation after attending the 4 -H Adult Forum
State Leadership Opportunities o Apply to be a representative from your 4 -H District (NE, SE, NW & SW) to the 4 -H Leaders’ Association Executive Board (3 year terms) o Officer opportunities on the Executive Board o Serve on the 4 -H Adult Forum planning committee – 1 year term
State & National 4 -H Recognition for Adults o Salute to Excellence Awards n State & National levels: o 4 -H Volunteer of the Year Award – less than 10 years of service o Outstanding Lifetime 4 -H Volunteer Award – more than 10 years of service o Nomination letter, resume & 3 letters of recommendation are required to nominate a 4 -H leader.
o New Mexico 4 -H Hall of Fame n Recognizes individuals who have had a significant impact upon the New Mexico 4 -H Youth Development n Nomination is required and can be submitted by any person or group. n Current 4 -H faculty and staff are not eligible for nomination.
Outstanding 4 -H Agent Award o The Outstanding 4 -H Agent Award is designed to reward Extension Agents for their exceptional efforts in communicating with 4 -H clubs and groups, conducting county events, engaging volunteer 4 -H leaders and providing educational opportunities for youth over their career. o To be eligible for nomination an agent must have served at least 3 years in a professional position with 4 -H responsibilities.
Western Regional 4 -H Leaders’ Forums (WRLF) o Hosted by a different state each year & involving leaders from throughout the 13 western states o Workshops, speakers, educational displays & activities, networking & fun o Upcoming Locations: n n 2014 2015 2016 2017 Montana (March 27 -30) Oregon Alaska Alberta, Canada

4 -H International Program Chaperone o Each summer adult chaperones travel with groups of 4 -H youth to countries on the States’ 4 -H International Exchange Program (S 4 -HIEP) o 2 week or 4 weeks in length o Serve as the Group Leader and support the exchange delegates while traveling abroad.
4 -H International Program Host Family o Open your home to an exchange delegate and open your lives to the world! o Through States’ 4 -H International, families have an opportunity to experience Argentina or Finland in July/August by hosting an exchange delegate for four weeks. o Hosting an adult chaperone is option too!
