History • Were created in 1707 from England Scotland armies • Power raised after Waterloo Battle until WWI • Prominent role in conflicts between 1707 and 1914 • Participated in World Wars • Became seriously declined after Second World War • Got current structure after creating of Ministry of Defense in 1964 • International role increased after Cold War
The British Army • • Land warfare branch of British Armed Forces The head – the Chief of the General Staff Deployed in many warzones all over the world Purely professional force Consist of infantry, armour, and army aviation Broadly split into Regular army and Territorial army Has administrative and operational organization Has two operational divisions
Royal Air Forces • • Formed on April 1, 1908 The oldest air force in the world One of the most capable and technically sophisticated air forces Reported strength: 827 aircraft and 41900 personel Plays a large part in recent conflicts Underwent rapid expansion prior to and during the WWI The profession head is the Chief of the Air Stuff Divided into the three aviation groups
Royal Marines • Were formed in 1664 by the King Karl II • Maritime-focused, amphibious, highly specialized light infantry force of commandos • Part of the Naval Service • Size is 8600 marines and 61 landing craft • Has armour, artillation, wessels and infantry • Consist of 8 battalions (5 of them are called “Commandos”)
Royal Navy • • • The main part of UK Naval Service The most powerful navy in the world until 20 century Has more then 90 battle ships Was managed by British Admiralty Has three bases Fleet Air Arms (FAA) have 250 aircrafts
