Franz Josef Popp (January 14, 1886 in Vienna; July 29, 1954 in Stuttgart) was one of three men responsible for the founding of BMW AG and the First General Director of BMW AG from 1922 to 1942. A number of different candidates have been put forward as the “founders” of BMW AG. In the absence of Karl Rapp, Gustav Otto, Max Friz or Camillo Castiqlioni the company would probably never have been born. However, Franz Josef Popp can lay claim to being the prime force in the development of the mobility company we know today. He was “General Director” of the company from its foundation until he was forced to relinquish his position in 1942.
BMW began production of motorcycle engines and then motorcycles after World War I. Its motorcycle brand is now known as BMW Motorrad. Their first successful motorcycle, after the failed Helios and Flink, was the “R 32” in 1923. This had a “boxer” twin engine, in which a cylinder projects into the air-flow from each side of the machine. Apart from their single-cylinder models (basically to the same pattern), all their motorcycles used this distinctive layout until the early 1980 s. Many BMWs are still produced in this layout, which is designated the R Series.

BMW does not deviate from its goal of increasing sales in three years. It is expected to do with new models. to help offset the decline in Europe. Bavarians predicts that 11 new models this year , including a coupe, such as GT 3 -Series , as well as growth in demand in China and the U. S. will offset the losses from the debt crisis at the European market , which reached a 20 - year low. “We are preparing for the next stage of growth, which will make the group more competitive BMW for the future , " said CEO Norbert Reithofer in his speech at the annual shareholders meeting in Munich. The car manufacturer BMW, MINI and Rolls-Royce is increasing investment in new vehicles and technology , Audi and Mercedes-Benz seek to claim a lead role in the sale of luxury and luxury cars.
