Mary I (18 February 1516 – 17 November 1558) was Queen of England Ireland. Regnal years - July 1553 until her death.
BIRTH AND FAMILY Mary was born on 18 February 1516 in Greenwich, London. She was the only child of King Henry VIII. Her mother had many miscarriages, before Mary's birth.
EDUCATION Mary was a precocious child. By the age of nine, Mary could read and write Latin. She studied French, Spanish, music, dance, and perhaps Greek.

FAMILY In the summer of 1527 Henry decided to annul the marriage with Catherine. Mary became the illegitimate daughter of the king and lost their rights to the crown. The new wife was the father of Mary Anne Boleyn, who hated Mary and tried to humiliate her.
