Presentations BEO World Travel Market Teams represent their assigned country at an international travel fair to raise interest for and attract visitors to their country. Presentations must cover a minimum of four of the following topics: - tourist attractions - culture - history - religion - areas of outstanding natural beauty - traditions - famous people - music, dance, performing arts - arts and crafts - famous events Teams will be assigned a specific topic on 15 November 2012. Presentations Local Media Project As part of the preparation for the BEO the participating teams will choose a social issue which is at the heart of their school and/or community. They will plan and undertake a local media campaign combining traditional and social media to raise awareness of this issue in their local community. The presentation should include, but is not limited to, the following areas: • Reasons for choosing specific media channels • Organisation of the project • The project itself • The project objectives and outcomes • Your personal reflection on and evaluation of the project The BEO office would like to stress that the projects and presentations will not be judged on their financial scale. BEO Presentations Three-minute question time Started by compère who will have a set list of questions to choose from for each presentation event, then opportunity will be given to the floor soon after. Questions are intended to show an appreciation of the team’s effort and are expected to be formulated in a respectful and supportive manner. Group leaders who pass or attempt to pass on prepared question to their students may be expelled from the venue. Debate BEO International Forum In 2013 the BEO debate is launched in a new format. Schools will be assigned roles whose views they will research and represent at the BEO International Forum. The topic is: Is the Internet a free space or is regulation unavoidable in the future? The aim of all participating teams in the assembly is to formulate a joint solution. Debate BEO International Forum The roles which may be represented in the forum are • Government • Social media • Search engine providers • The public • Bloggers • Law enforcement agencies • Education representatives • Games industry • Telecommunication providers • Civil rights organisations Teams are expected to stay in their roles throughout the debate and not represent their personal opinion. Teams have to choose one of these two topics for their lyrics: A) Their BEO experience B) The Digital Revolution and/or Social Media. Schools are responsible for bringing their own karaoke version. General BEO Guidelines Students are between 12 and 16 years old at the time of the BEO event (born between 01. 05. 1996 and 31. 12. 2001. Students registered for the BEO must participate in at least two and a maximum of five BEO competitions, excluding the events of the BEO final. Time limits and penalties A grace period is applied for the first 10 seconds below the minimum time limit, e. g. 7: 50 to 7: 59. A maximum of 10 penalty points is awarded for not meeting the minimum time of the presentation.
