BELARUSIAN STATE MUSEUM OF THE HISTORY OF THE GREAT PATRIOTIC WAR
HISTORY
v The museum was opened on October 22, 1944 in the Trade Union House on liberation Square, which was one of few buildings in Minsk that had remained intact during the war years. v The first exposition contained two exhibitions : “Armament of the Belarusian Partisans” and “Bolshevik Press During the Great Patriotic War ”. The exhibitions occupied 15 halls and had 1261 artifacts: 486 leaflets, newspapers and hand-written partisan journals, 325 pictures, 200 arms including captured and self-made guns and 176 pieces of art.
v Many od the Belarusian artists worked - the former guerrillas , including the People's Artist of Belarus , VA Gromyko , Honored Artist of the Republic of Belarus, VP Sukhoverkhov , SG Romanov, NT Gutiev Belarusian artists GF Brzhozovsky , LS Boiko, NV Gourley , OV Lutsevich , AI Shahnovich , ZS Shklar. v In the museum you can find more than 1, 000 drawings , cartoons , mini - posters from the life and struggle of the " avengers " performed by the authors mentioned above during their stay in the partisan detachments (1942 - 1944 gg. ).
THE COLLECTION PRESENTS THE ENTIRE RANGE OF ARTISTIC STYLES, TRENDS, TYPES AND GENRES OF FINE ART.
v The Museum’s awards and medals collection has been developed from the Museum’s inception. The Museum’s holdings include individual prizes from the pre-war period, state awards from the Great Patriotic War period, which are part of the Soviet Reward System, unique, self-made partisan medals.
