Psychological Support Supervisor • Confidential psychological support service away from clinical setting • Psychological issues of Palliative Care • Minimum of 3 structured meetings: – Meeting 1: within induction – Meeting 2: mid-point – Meeting 3: penultimate week
How it works - Training • Seamless continuation • Option for specialist attachment – Pain team – Hospice at Home service – Visit services at North Wales Cancer Treatment Centre, Glan Clwyd Hospital – Oncology Consultant Clinic – Drop-in Clinic at Deeside Hospital – Bereavement services for children (RELEASE) • Audit / Research • Teaching others
The future • Continuous review and revision of programme • Integrated unselected ‘takes’ • Development of research project into junior doctors’ experiences in Palliative Medicine (pre-programme) – Literature Review – Qualitative research – Measuring effectiveness of programme • New posts: – Academic Clinical Fellowship in Palliative Medicine – Academic Foundation Year 1 Doctor in Palliative Medicine – Clinical Senior Lecturer in Palliative Medicine • Collaboration with other trusts for a unified approach
