ORG Patrick Autissier Age: 43 Hometown: Belmont, MA Education: Biology Engineer, Montpellier, France 97 Occupation: Flow Cytometry Specialist at Beth Israel Hospital Family status: married with 2 children Personal & cycling achievements: Former swimmer, Patrick has done many Ironman triathlons (Hawaii, Florida, Lake Placid, Lanzarote and Germany), as well as many marathons (Boston, Paris, Barcelona, New York, Chicago, Monaco). Since Patrick lives in the U. S, he switched over to ultracycling distance, competing at the Boston-Montreal -Boston (BMB-750 miles) in 2003. Patrick is returning to RAAM after racing in the solo division in 2005. Eric H. Jensen Age: 37 Hometown: Falmouth, MA Education: Chemical Engineer, UMass Amherst 91 Occupation: Operations Manager at Groundwater Analytical, Inc Family status: married with 2 children Personal & cycling achievements: During his 4 years at college Eric pursued rowing in an 8 man coxed boat. For several years, he then enjoyed competing in Mountain biking events through New England. However, for the past ten years he has found his true passion with road biking. Eric has competed in many high-profile races (Fitchburg Stage Race, El Tour de Tucson). Also, he has enjoyed taking part in many charity events (100 mile MS Berkshire, Pan Mass Challenge). Now this past year Eric has focused on ultracycling with the Boston-Montreal-Boston and then beating the Massachusetts Cross-State Record.

ORG Ed Kross Age: 47 Hometown: Framingham, MA Education: Occupation: Electrical Engineer Family status: Single Personal & cycling achievements: Ed had been touring for several years, and began road racing in 1988. His first 24 hr race was the Bud Light Challenge in New York (1991), and having a surprising 3 rd place finish, he figured he could like this kind of racing. He also did Solo RAAM (1992, 1994, 1997 and 1999), Boston-Montreal-Boston (5 x), Rocky Mountain 1200 k (2003), Furnace Creek 508 (2003), Gold Rush Randonnee (2005). Ralf Geiben Age: 38 Hometown: Newton, MA Education: Ph. D. In biology, Giessen, Germany 96 Occupation: Post-doctoral Fellow at Beth Israel Hospital Family status: married with 1 child Personal & cycling achievements: Amateur US category 2 road racer with more than 20 years experience in bicycle racing, Ralf was one of few elite amateur racers selected to represent the state of Saarland (Germany) in international races. Every year, Ralf averages 5 top 5 and 10 top 10 finishes in professional and amateur races. He has 8 top 10 finishes and two victories in 2005.
THE RACE RAAM is the longest endurance annual cycling event in the world On June 13 th, 2006, the 25 th annual Insight Race Across America (www. raceacrossamerica. org) begins in Oceanside, Ca. Competitors climb over 104, 000 feet while crossing 14 states in their 3, 000 miles campaign to the finish line in Atlantic City, NJ, approximately 6 days later.

THE CAUSE (1) Partners In Health www. pih. org The PIH Vision: Whatever It Takes Partners In Health (PIH) is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit corporation with a presence in Latin America, the Caribbean, Russia, and the United States. We coordinate innovative programs to combat AIDS and women's health problems in rural Haiti and urban Massachusetts, groundbreaking tuberculosis treatment projects in the prisons of Siberia and the shantytowns of Lima, and health policy initiatives on a global scale.
THE CAUSE (2) Nashoba Learning Group www. nashobalearninggroup. org Providing help for children with autism – and hope for their families. Nashoba Learning Group (NLG) is a non-profit educational organization committed to helping children and their families in the fight against autism. Our school, which opened in January 2003, provides state-of-the-art education and intervention services to children with autism. Nashoba Learning Group welcomes individuals with autism, between the ages of 3 and 22, of any race, color, religious affiliation or national or ethnic origin.

He wanders the city, buttonholing everyone he can about his cross-country bike ride to raise million to help find an AIDS vaccine. • Mass Media (03/31/2005): Pedals of passion: One man’s journey Patrick Autissier, a 42 year-old Frenchman living in Belmont Massachusetts, is on the cutting edge of Harvard Medical Research Staff, at Beth Israel Hospital. On June 19, he will trade in his lab coat for riding gear as he embarks on a grueling cross-country race. Cyclists throughout the world hail this Race Across America (RAAM) as the "Mt. Everest" of their sport. • Metro Sports Boston (06/03/2005): Cross country for a cure “In the beginning I just wanted to do RAAM for a challenge, ” Autissier says. “But I saw a link between the RAAM and fundraising for HIV research because I was in the middle of both. ” As a flow cytometry specialist in France, Autissier came to Boston in 2001 to work on an AIDS vaccine at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center, the Harvard affiliate.
