Included in this discussion ANTENNA • • • Pedestal Alidade & Azimuth Bearing Drives, Motors, Amps Pri Frame, Support Struts Pri & Sec Reflector Surfaces Sec support, Shroud, Radome Limits & Encoders Enclosures & Conduit Electrical & Comm in Antenna ZONE • Foundation • Zone Node • All in Ground Services EXCLUDED • • Antenna Control Computer Feed & Receiver Signal Path Everything Else
More pros • With the pedestal able to project into the area behind the reflector, the elevation and azimuth axis can be positioned very near the reflector surface. Each axis is close to the center of wind force and these reduced lever arms mean smaller drive loads and should help reduce costs. The elevation axis is close to the center of mass for the tilting assembly which should reduce the need for counterweight.

Material & Labor Cost per Category for 350
Delivery of Primary Reflectors This is our most expensive item. This along with the secondary use about 2000 lbs of aluminum. Aluminum costs about 2. 40 $ / lb so our actual material cost is $4, 800. We are paying 17, 000 for the Pri & Sec delivered with stiffeners ready for welding. These items offer the greatest opportunity to reduce labor costs or control profit.
The famous Primary Tool The primary and secondary tool shown here was priced as follows: $568, 000 Primary tool $75, 000 Secondary tool $68, 000 Other table equipment $46, 000 Tuning tool. The original price base on going full steam ahead into production was $8, 300 for a primary and $571 for a secondary
Extra Costs Building this tool and moving it around in the plant required raising the roof and installing a heavy duty bridge crane. Basically we picked up the cost of a lot of this in our tool cost. The 47, 000 lb primary mold tool is shown here After this work and a reduced quantity on the order the price for a complete set of reflectors moved from $8, 871 to $17, 400
