The Petroleum Technology Research Centre (PTRC) is a not-for-profit research and development organization founded in 1998 by Natural Resources Canada, the Government of Saskatchewan, Saskatchewan Research Council, and the University of Regina, with support from the western Canadian oil and gas industry. The goal of the PTRC is to foster research and development into enhanced oil recovery and carbon storage, with the goals of improving energy outcomes while reducing the environmental footprint of the oil and gas industry. Located in Regina, Saskatchewan the PTRC is a leader in the international CCS community. Though Saskatchewan is only just emerging as a global market, the PTRC has built world-class capacity for research excellence for both Saskatchewan and Canada. Bringing together industry needs as well as national and international research scientists, the PTRC is a unique and successful model in the global CCS industry.
