What is a Weekly World Watch? The idea is simple. It is to look at current events and compare them to events spoken of in the Bible. . I hope to build up a picture of God’s hand working in the affairs of this world. God is bringing about a day when all nations will be gathered to Jerusalem to battle. At that time God will send His Son, the Lord Jesus Christ, back to this earth. Jesus will then establish God’s kingdom on earth. This kingdom will last for ever. This is our hope and the reason we watch. The following six themes will appear repeatedly in WWW: • Israel: The continuing conflict in the Middle East and focus on Jerusalem. • Europe: Its developing union, both political and religious. • Russia: Its return to anti-Western ways as Bible prophecy’s “king of the north. ” • The UK and the US: Bible prophecy’s “king of the south. ” • Moral standards in decline and violence on the increase. • Increasing natural disasters: including earthquake, famine etc WWW presentations in Power. What is in a Weekly World Watch? Each WWW looks at a few key developments that have happened during the past week. It is in no way meant to be exhaustive – just a look at those events I saw as significant from a Biblical point of view. Every WWW event slide has the following format. Canadian Intelligence: Russia ‘mobilizing for war’ Haaretz, June 15, 2016 EVENT The Canadian government is considering a new commitment of hundreds of troops in Eastern Europe as part of an effort to deter Russian aggression in the region, the Canadian Broadcasting Corporation reported on Tuesday. This follows a report by the Canadian Security Intelligence Services - the Canadian government intelligence agency - based on research by outsiders rather than its own assessment, warning that Russian President Vladimir Putin's hard-line policies were becoming "more deeply entrenched, " as the CBC put it, and that "Moscow is retooling its military for a fight" and possibly "mobilizing for war. " "It is modernizing conventional military capability on a large scale; the state is mobilizing for war, " the intelligence agency report stated. COMMENT Russia is getting ready for more military action. Russia is preparing for war. At 7 am on Tuesday, Russian Defence Minister Sergey Shoigu announced a surprise combat readiness inspection by the decision of the country's Supreme Commander-in. Chief, President Vladimir Putin. The snap check affected all military districts. The defence minister said that the first day will focus "on the combat readiness condition objectives. ” The inspection will last until 22 nd June. In the article above it is clear that Canada sees Russia preparing for war. Events are moving quickly. The Bible says this is something we should be watching for. Amazingly modern Bible translations use the identical language as the headline uses on this slide. See verse below. We really are in the last days… BIBLE QUOTE Get ready; be prepared! Keep all the armies around you mobilized, and take command of them. A long time from now you will be called into action. In the distant future you will swoop down on the land of Israel, which will be enjoying peace after recovering from war and after its people have returned from many lands to the mountains of Israel. Russian tanks amass near East Ukraine Washington Times, June 17, 2016 EVENT COMMENT BIBLE QUOTE The Minsk Peace Accords have not been fully implemented by either side and violence is still smouldering along the demarcation line between the Ukrainian military and Russian-backed separatists in the Donbass region of East Ukraine. Violations of the ceasefire are common on both sides, but since last summer heavy weapons have been withdrawn from front line sectors. This may be changing which would ramp up the possibility of a full-blown military conflict once again erupting in Donetsk. On June 14, a local media outlet quoted reports from Ukrainian military officials that Russia-backed separatists in Donbass had amassed 30 tanks near the strategic town of Avdiivka, reports the private intelligence firm Stratfor. This large number of armoured vehicles would definitely violate the Minsk accords and signal a new willingness from Moscow to re-escalate the conflict. The respected military intelligence firm Stratfor had this to say this week… “Recent signs suggest that renewed violence may be in store for eastern Ukraine. Hot spots along the line of contact have come under heavy separatist fire in recent weeks; 58 cease-fire breaches were registered along the demarcation line on June 15, a marked rise from the 10 -20 daily violations in previous months. And on June 14, a local media outlet quoted reports from Ukrainian military officials that Russia-backed separatists in Donbas had amassed 30 tanks near the strategic town of Avdiivka. From a military perspective, such a large number of tanks suggests that offensive operations may be planned. ” The fault line between East and West is very fragile. It is the same fault line depicted in Nebuchadnezzar’s image vision… Following that kingdom, there will be a fourth one, as strong as iron. That kingdom will smash and crush all previous empires, just as iron smashes and crushes everything it strikes. (Daniel 2: 40) The 4 th kingdom is represented by the iron legs. The 4 th kingdom was the Roman Empire. This empire split into an Western Empire ruled by Rome (now Europe). The Eastern Empire was ruled by Constantinople but this passed to Moscow. The Eastern Empire therefore is Russia.

Russian warplanes bomb British-backed Syrian rebels Daily Telegraph, June 17, 2016 EVENT Russian warplanes bombed an elite force of US-trained Syrian rebels on Thursday in an attack apparently aimed at weakening the group’s ability to fight Isil. The New Syrian Army (NSA), which receives training and direction from British, American and Jordanian special forces, said their base had been struck with cluster bombs. The strike left two people dead another 18 injured, appearing to incapacitate at least half of the force and drawing a furious reaction from Washington. "Russia's latest actions raise serious concern about Russian intentions, " a US official told Reuters, speaking on condition of anonymity. "We will seek an explanation from Russia on why it took this action and assurances this will not happen again. ” The attack took place in al-Tanf, a southeastern village near the Jordanian and Iraqi border that the NSA recaptured from Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (Isil) in May last year. COMMENT This could be highly significant. For months Russia and the US have been trying to do a deal over Syria. But talks failed. Now Russia has deliberately bombed rebels backed and trained by US/British forces. John Kerry the US secretary of State responded this week by warning Russia to respect the “frayed” ceasefire and that its “patience was not infinite”. Also more than 50 State Department officials signed a confidential document this week that calls for targeted military strikes against Syria and lobbies for regime change. The Bible says that Syria will come to an end as a nation – and clearly that is not far away. It also says Damascus will completely end as a city. If the gloves really come off between the two super powers it is easy to see how all this could happen. The original area of the king of the north was Syria. When it falls Russia will enter… BIBLE QUOTE Damascus has become feeble, and all her people turn to flee. Fear, anguish, and pain have gripped her as they grip a woman in labour. That famous city, a city of joy, will be forsaken! Her young men will fall in the streets and die. Her soldiers will all be killed, ” says the Lord (Jeremiah 49: 24 -26 NLT)

Russian athletes out in the cold as Olympic ban stands Daily Telegraph, June 17, 2016 EVENT Russia’s athletics team was dramatically banned from the Olympics on Friday night – yet some of the country’s athletes could still line up in Rio under a neutral flag after the sport’s governing body offered an olive branch to those who can prove they are untainted by their country’s disgraced system. An unrelenting stream of doping revelations over the past 18 months meant the International Association of Athletics Federations Council was unanimous in its decision to extend Russia’s exile from international athletics competitions. COMMENT This may not seem as relevant but Russia has been in the news all week from a sport point of view. Russia’s athletics team has been banned from the Olympics that start August in Rio. Russia is accused of state sponsored corruption when it comes to doping to improve athletes performance. Putin has reacted furiously for being singled out. He doesn’t deny Russia is doing it – he just says everyone else is. But either way Russia is being isolated by the world. This is not what Putin wants – he wants Russia to be seen as a great power and a world leader. On top of this Russia is at the centre of shocking violence at the Euro football tournament taking place in France. Russia’s hooligans are not just drunken louts looking for a fight. They are well trained, far-right, violent thugs. France has deported 20 members of All-Russia Supporters Union. This extremist group is supported by Putin! On Wednesday, Russian foreign minister Sergei Lavrov criticised the detention of the fans as "absolutely unacceptable”. All of this isolates Russia and angers Russia. How will Putin react to this treatment? He demands respect and therefore he might well do something to make the world sit up and take note. BIBLE QUOTE He will be a master of deception and will become arrogant; he will destroy many without warning. He will even take on the Prince of princes in battle, but he will be broken, though not by human power (Zechariah 12: 6) This man described here is the latter day Antiochus Epiphanes. I. e. Putin. He is an arrogant leader involved in deception. He destroys many - without warning…

Brexit 'could cause break-up of European Union' Independent, June 11, 2016 EVENT Brexit could cause the European Union to break down by triggering efforts by other nations to secede, the Swedish foreign minister has said. An exclusive poll for The Independent found that the campaign for Britain to leave the EU has opened up a 10 point lead against Remain in a reversal of the position one year ago. Margot Wallstrom, the foreign minister of Sweden, said other nations could follow the UK with referendums and demands from reform if it votes Out on 23 June. “The spill-over effect will be deeply felt, ” she said on the BBC's This Week's World programme. "That might affect other EU member states that will say: ‘Well, if they can leave, maybe we should also have referendums and maybe we should also leave. ’ "If they stay, it might also lead to other countries saying: 'Well, they negotiated, they asked and demanded to have a special treatment so why shouldn't we? ’” COMMENT Well we could be on the brink of momentous events this week. On Thursday Britain goes to the polls to vote on whether to stay in Europe or to leave Europe. The polls now have the leave camp ahead but the betting firms still say it is more likely people will vote to remain. We can say with certainty that Britain will NOT be part of the final beast system that rises out of the bottomless pit in Revelation 17. Other nations will also certainly need to leave the Euro area as well for it to replicate the original Holy Roman Empire. Brexit could be the catalyst to breakup of Europe as we know it but then a coming together of core nations that form a new bloc. This bloc will be be led by Germany. Whatever the result this new resurrected empire will emerge. If Brexit does happen there will undoubtedly be great turmoil on the financial markets. We could be approaching a very significant time… BIBLE QUOTE The ten horns of the beast are ten kings who have not yet risen to power. They will be appointed to their kingdoms for one brief moment to reign with the beast. They will agree to give the beast their power and authority. Together they will go to war against the Lamb, but the Lamb will defeat them because he is Lord of all lords and King of all kings. Massacre is deadliest mass shooting in U. S. history NBC News, June 13, 2016 EVENT World landmarks lit up in rainbow colours to show solidarity with LBGT community At least 50 people were killed and more than 50 others were wounded when a gunman opened fire and took hostages at a gay nightclub in Orlando, Florida, early Sunday morning. The shooter, identified by several law enforcement sources as Omar Mateen, 29, was killed in a shootout with law enforcement after a three-hour siege. The massacre — the worst mass shooting in the history of the United States — began when the gunman stormed the Pulse Nightclub about 2 a. m. ET with a handgun and a Sig Sauer MCX, an AR-15 -style rifle, officials said. COMMENT It has been another week of terrible violence. 50 people killed at a gay nightclub. A British MP shot and repeatedly stabbed to death in broad daylight. Violence raging in France at the football tournament. Does the world have any answers to these problems? Answer no. World leaders wring their hands and look pained but are powerless to stop it. These events surely depict a world that once existed a long time ago. The world is as it was in the days of Noah – just before God judged the entire world. We are told that the world back then was full of violence and corruption. The two things are linked of course. Corruption is a falling away from God’s laws – it leads to violence. The world has indeed fallen far away from God’s laws – it breeds violence. We are also reminded of Sodom. A city full of homosexual men. God rained down fire and brimstone on these people so none were left. Homosexuality is no longer seen as deviant behaviour by the world. The massacre above causes the world to promote it even more. BIBLE QUOTE God abandoned them to their shameful desires. Even the women turned against the natural way to have sex and instead indulged in sex with each other. And the men, instead of having normal sexual relations with women, burned with lust for each other. Men did shameful things with other men, and as a result of this sin, they suffered within themselves the penalty they deserved. (Romans 1: 26 -27 NLT)
