Introduction
Genres The distinctive feature of these times was creating a new sound by mixing two or even more genres. Rock’n’Roll = r’n’b + country + (boogie-woogie) + (gospel) + (jazz).
Rock is a genre with a big amount of trends and directions. The most popular in those days (60 s-90 s) were: Surf-rock Garage-rock with guitar fuzzes Ska-rock Psychedelic-rock Pop-rock Space-rock Glam-rock Punk-rock (then thrived into pop-punk, ska-punk, post-punk) Heavy music - a prototype for black and doom rock
New wave • Underground music • Electro • Disco • Many others
Then here comes the funk - a protest to commercialization of r’n’b. Funk means to dance until your sweat will make you wet The folk music had it’s own evolution too. In this period audience got crazy folk-rock and acid-folk
There is also hip-hop – (a mix of funk, r’n’b, soul and sometimes rap) radically different from the other genres because of produced beat. Hip-hop has different directions: • Gangsta • Oldscool and newscool • G-funk • Horrorcore
