Principal Tasks - Outlook n Monitoring (no funding requirements now envisioned) n n n VIEWS (no funding requirements now envisioned) n n Continue to use IMPROVE for routine monitoring Encourage & track regional special studies funded by others RPOs have requested that EPA take over VIEWS funding (If EPA drops the ball, WRAP may want to fund a western version of VIEWS) Causes of Haze Assessment ($225 k for 2005; $100 k/yr for out-year activities*) * $100 k/yr = ~$1000/site/year = ~3% of the IMPROVE operating cost/site/year
Causes of Haze Assessment 2006 Activities n Update assessment for each site for entire 5 year baseline, & document to COHA web site n n n Aerosol description, hazagon maps, etc Trajectory summary maps & trajectory regression PMF & episode analyses Assess representativeness of current IMPROVE sites to visibility-protected class I areas in WRAP Summarize & document attribution findings in conceptual models for each site
Causes of Haze Assessment Out-Year Activities n Maintain, update, & enhance the COHA web site n n Continue to operate & provide user support for the COHA web site, Setup a schedule that updates attribution assessments at least every two years Create new data assessment displays and tools Conduct a new assessment each year (e. g. effects of climate on smoke or dust impact trends, or impacts of urban areas at near-urban sites, etc. )
