‘All Ears’ Child Sexual Exploitation DC 0618 Wheeler CSE Coordination
Introduction of ‘All Ears’ • DC Nick Wheeler – CSE Coordinator for Birmingham and West Midlands Police. • Release date for this package has been placed at mid December 2017 once approval and delivery pathway has been finalised.
Aims / Objectives • To effectively safeguard children and support intelligence gathering opportunities around CSE. • An opportunity to engage with all children in Birmingham, aged 11 -17 years from West Midlands Police. • A further reinforcement of the risk factors to the children, consistent with existing packages. • To provide information to the children on the police response to CSE & the risk factors • An opportunity to establish communication pathways for the children to report crime or concerns. • Manage expectations and support positive disclosure. • To look to improve engagement with the children for future opportunities.
Content The content of the presentation will be: 1) The introduction – explaining CSE. Includes: • What is CSE – in line with existing packages • Risk Factors discussion and video / discussion 2) Pathways of communication: • How to inform the police anonymously • How to make disclosure to police 3) Police Response: • Police response to criminal disclosure and expectations • Police response to information of concern and expectations 4) Discussion 5) Signposting – Police 2 schools, NSPCC, Barnardo’s etc.

Special Needs/Learning Difficulties increasing vulnerability.

Our Responsibilities • To safeguard children • To ensure that we share information within our legal obligations to ensure that we continue to protect children from harm. • To recognise CSE as significant harm and respond positively. • To use the referral pathways and record information effectively. • To allow children and their families to have the relevant information to keep themselves and their friends safe from harm. • To disrupt concerning behaviour whilst considering the best interests of the child and their families. • To signpost to relevant agencies for further advice and guidance
Feedback • There will be an opportunity to feedback on the effectiveness of the package. • This will be done on-line after the release date so that the package can be developed to ensure it’s quality.
