Alive-O 2 Term 1: Lesson 13 Preparing
Two Cousins Mary and Elizabeth were cousins. They both had very good news. Mary and Elizabeth were going to have babies. They were very happy.
It’s a pity that Elizabeth lives so far away from me. ‘I would love to go and see her, ’ said Mary to herself. ‘I’ll go to visit Elizabeth. We have a lot to talk about’.
Mary sat down and made a list of all the preparations she would have to make. First she would have to let Elizabeth know that she was coming to visit. How do you think that she may have done that?
Then she would have to tell her family and friends that she was going away for a few days to be with Elizabeth. She needed to pack a bag for the trip. What would she need to bring with her? What would Mary need to bring on a long journey?
Mary needed to bring some presents for Elizabeth. She wondered what Elizabeth would like. What do you think Elizabeth might like?
Mary had a brilliant idea. ‘I know’, she said, ‘I will take something for Elizabeth’s new baby when it comes. ’ What could Mary take for Elizabeth’s new baby?
Mary was very excited as she set off on her journey. Elizabeth was very excited at the news that her cousin Mary was coming to visit her.
‘I must tell my husband, Zechariah, that Mary is coming to visit us. ’
‘I must get a room ready for Mary, ’ Elizabeth said to Zechariah. How do you think Elizabeth got the room ready?
‘I must get some food ready and some baking done, ’ said Elizabeth. What food do you think Elizabeth prepared?
Elizabeth waited for Mary to come. She was thinking about all they had to talk about. At last Elizabeth saw Mary walking down the road towards the house. She rushed to the door to welcome Mary.
The two cousins hugged and kissed and put their arms around one another. Then they went inside. Mary took off her coat and sat down with Elizabeth.
Mary and Elizabeth took out the presents which they had bought for one another. They were both excited as they opened their presents. They both laughed when they saw that they had given the same present to one another.
