Conference Attendance • Fall-out § New scrutiny for government employee attendance at nongovernment conferences – A new Do. D policy was due by January – The policy will likely be “added to” by individual government agency § Do. D employees may (will? ) have difficulty attending conferences in the near future. – Reduced level of government attendance at ASM very likely – No US Army employees were known to be granted approval to attend ASM 2013. – Last minute (1/2/13) approval for USAF attendees at ASM 2013. – Last minute approval for NASA personnel to attend ASM 2013 • This was on top of an already stated goal to reduce Do. D travel costs by 30% as compared 4 to FY 2010 travel
