Compliance with application deadlines The minimum standard has not yet been achieved for all applications. Deadlines are particularly exceeded in relation to environmental and spatial planning-related permits. Third-party consultations with provincial authorities and water boards is time-consuming, resulting in the municipality failing to deal with applications within the deadline. In 2009, the municipality introduced case management for complex permit applications. The municipality will incorporate this into the location permit implementation procedure. Standard 2. Recovery Period Standard 3. Comprehensiveness of requests and applications Missed deadlines realised within the new recovery period. The municipality has succeeded in limiting the time beyond which a deadline is exceeded to a maximum of 15 working days. During the recovery period 60% is handled within 5 working days. A collection of 250 permits – from a total of 1, 000 – were selected at random, assessed analysed. In the study, a total of 150 companies provided their opinions on the services provided by the municipality of Draften on the basis of their experiences in 2008.
