• The First university founded in Gaza Strip in 1978. • The Largest Palestinian university in number of students (21, 000: 63% females & 47% males). It has more than 400 full-time Ph. D academics, graduated from many different countries: o o o More than 130 graduated from American, British and other European universities. More than 40 graduated from Turkish, Malaysian, Indian, Japanese, Korean, Chinese universities. The others are graduates of universities in different Arab countries, including Palestine.
IUG has International memberships with : AAU , CMU , EUU , FUIW , IAU , PEACE Program , EMUNI and UNIMED. Currently IUG is engaged in 15 EU-funded projects: o o 11 multilateral projects under TEMPUS, ERASMUS MUNDUS and FP 7 programmes. 5 bilateral projects under ALMqdisi programme & Researching Multilingually AHRC Translating Cultures programme. This engagement resulted in partnership with 121 universities & research centers from 23 countries in Europe , Canada and Arab Regions.
IUG offers approx. 100 bachelor, higher diploma & master programs in 10 faculties. The courses in English are supported in 7 ones : Medicine Nursing Art English Literature Engineering Electrical Computer Industrial Environmental Civil Architecture Information Technology commerce computer science Business Administration Science Maths Physics Chemistry Multimedia Technology Accountancy software and web development Economics & Political Sciences Biology Geology Biotechnology
