What’s New? - continued • Data Management Group (DMG) assigns and manages authoritative source information for the agency • NC WISE will become the authoritative source for Section 504 and LEP accommodations (Share with CECAS) • CECAS will become the authoritative source for EC accommodations • ESL FDC has become the authoritative source for LEP status 5

ABCs/AYP Updates • OCS Writing included in ABCs performance composite, but not in AYP and ABCs growth • No Grade 3 Pretest • No Competency Test • No Computer Skills • No Chemistry or Physics 6

Precode Enhancements • Precode Plus module added to provide more flexibility • Now LEAs can use the member files that NCDPI pulls from NC WISE to Precode Plus • New menu option was added in ABCTools to load precode files into the table precode 7

Process Changes • Base School Process will be simplified. No base schools file. It will be set for a student from the accdata file. • CGR Preview Table (beyond 09 -10) • New Test Auditing Table (including retests) 8

EOC Predictors for 2009 -2010 • Expected performance in English I is based on previous performance in EOG Reading Grade 8 • Expected performance in Civics and Economics is based on previous performance in Biology (previous edition) and English I, if available, or English I (if previous edition Biology is not available) • Considering a modification to allow Reading and Mathematics as alternative predictors 9

Cohort Graduation Rate (CGR) Update to the Transition Plan 5 -Year Graduation Cohort • Students who were enrolled as 12 th graders in 2008– 09 and graduated in 2009– 10 as a result of Senate Bill 202 S. L. 2009 -451 may be included in the 5 -year cohort rate for the 2009– 10 reporting year • All other former students who graduate as a result of Senate Bill 202 S. L. 2009 -451 are not to be counted in any graduation rates, and therefore, will not be used in any state rate publications • The same data elements for the regular graduates will be requested from the graduates under S. L. 2009 -451 (e. g. , race, gender, course of study) • Graduation Data Verification System (GDVS) will include students who received a diploma as a result of removing competency and computer skills graduation requirements for the five year rate • CGRAudit/CGRExit Process/CGR Record Search (running) 12

Future Plan for Back Loading Historical Test Data Into NC WISE • Check for missing historical test score records in NC WISE test and populate them with historical Win. Scan files from accountability • The ATEAM will use historical Win. Scan records and the current student ID (convid) file to locate historical missing scores in NC WISE and populate with score that match • Rename the member. ### to member######. txt. We will make backward changes on server for 16

Future Plan for Back Loading Historical Test Data Into NC WISE - Continued • The ATEAM will load Lexile scores for Reading scale scores and Quantiles scores for Mathematics scale scores • Time Line for these additions to NC WISE has not been set and is pending final approval • The Lexile and Quantile scores may be used for the next generation of the Accountability Model • The actual accommodation used for test will also be added to the SCO from Win. Scan to be uploaded into the test upload 17

Equipment Update • New instructions to use a computer without a parallel port and with a USB port have been developed and added to the printer setup instructions for users who purchase additional equipment • Network the printers so the USB can be used for Win. Scan labels and precode (This is not currently needed for equipment provided by the state) 18

ABCTools Training • Thursday of each month – ABCTools Training • Certificate Credit for Training • Working on providing certificate for credit (10: 00 a. m. to 4: 00 p. m. ) 19

Odds and Ends • We will use the SBE list of the eight (8) regions for some reports • The SSH server count will be down for two days after the March Collection as we move servers. Alert messages will be sent of firewall changes and Certificate error messages when using SSH. • New process for accommodations collection starts March 1, 2010 • Install will need to be upgraded for Windows 7 20
