A State of the world’s birds report Critically Endangered birds: a global audit Important Bird Areas identified for Critically Endangered bird species Sites marked in red support more than one Critically Endangered species: the high density of such sites in South and South-East Asia reflect the distribution of several broad-ranging Critically Endangered vulture species which co-occur at many IBAs in these regions. IBAs are still being identified for Critically Endangered birds in New Zealand, French Polynesia, Northern Mariana Islands and the Federated States of Micronesia.
