Don’t just take my word for it… 87% of employers think that volunteering can have a generally positive effect on career progression for people aged 16 – 25 – Institute of Volunteering Research Last year there were an average of 55 applications for every graduate job – High Fliers Research 2013 The top five benefits from volunteering given by volunteers are: ‘a sense of satisfaction from seeing the results’ (97%), ‘I really enjoy it’ (96%), ‘it gives me a sense of personal achievement’ (88%), ‘meet people and make friends’ (86%), ‘gives me the chance to do things that I am good at’ (83%) Institute of Volunteering Research

Potential volunteers to complete an application form and skills audit for our records. 3. Deployment Communication via student email, phone, Communication Facebook and twitter 4. 3. 1 Relays Bursary Scheme First 20 hrs = £ 100 + Bronze certificate Second 20 hrs = £ 50 + Silver certificate Third 20 hrs = £ 50 + Gold certificate & Relays hoodie ‘Max £ 200 per academic year’ 1. The Relays bursary scheme ensures volunteers are rewarded extrinsically for their efforts. 2. Volunteers who access the bursary will be expected to use the money towards CPD, training courses or appropriate industry related qualifications.

The BU Student Development Award enables you to showcase your skills to prospective employers in your own e-portfolio webpage. 1. Single event support – 10 points 2. 20 hours logged – 40 points
