However, the people involved, the culture and the uniqueness of each organization may differby country. In addition, MS depends upon the company’s own characteristics and the environment in which the activity is performed.

General Knowledge v In general, the knowledge related to all aspects of the QMS in Spain is very high. Ø Ø For example Arenas et al. (2006) argued that 70 % of Spanish hospital they surveyed had a QMS and 90% had a high medical protocol and nursing plans. Thus, the authors concluded that there is a clear trend that exists towards the use QMS. despite the fact that the implementation of ISO 9000 standards in Spain is voluntary, it is in fact obligatory in certain industry sectors: construction, automotive, energy and certain telecommunications companies (Karapetrovic et al. , 2006) v There about 27 taught Official Masters and 6 official Doctorates Degrees offering programs related to QMS v Spanish organizations are now providing resources and activities specially designed for the development of their employees’ skills as well as providing formative assessments to monitor their progress. Programs of the establishment of QMS in the Spanish industry v Food and Agriculture Ø Ø Ø On top of ISO/IEC 22000, Spain is now offering certification in accordance with various International Schemes such as GAP, BRC, IFS or FACE specific certifications developed in Spain related to Productos Ibéricos e inspección de las explotaciones ganaderas de cerdos ibéricos Good Laboratory Practice (GLP) v Construction Ø Ø On top of the various ISO management there are training programs related to testing, inspection and certification required by EU regulation on safety requirements of the various products covered by the Directive of Construction Products (89/106/EEC) Programs related to autonomous region e. g. Entidades Colaboradoras en la Gestión de Licencias Urbanísticas: ECLUS offers inspection and certification programs related to quality management systems and environmental or verification of greenhouse gas emission v Tourism Ø Ø The certification brand for Spanish Tourist Quality is called MARCA Q Programs related to safety, physical, mechanical, chemical, electrical, sanitary etc. v Safety and Health at work Ø Ø On top of the existing MSS certifications Spanish companies can also get accreditation on the determination ofpollutants in industrial atmospheres, metals, ammonia, noise, calibration etc. Programs on tests, inspection and certification for the EU market related to the machinery, presses, machine tools, machinery for underground work covered by the Directive 2006/42/EC v Health Service Ø Ø Spanish organizations can freely implement Quality Management Systems for medical devices based on UNE-EN ISO 1348.
