44 Sounds of English • Each page has one sound( phoneme), showing its various written forms (graphemes), with examples. • Not all graphemes are shown, so if you or your students discover one not shown, celebrate this with the student and please let us know. • 2 -18 (yellow) are consonant sounds, 19 -24 (green) are short vowel sounds, 25 -32(pink) are long vowel sounds, 33 -39 (aqua) are digraph (combined) sounds, 40 -44 (orange) are ‘r’ controlled sounds. • Some graphs have been left blank as a challenge for your students.
