Science Assessments TOM TORLAKSON State Superintendent of Public Instruction The State Superintendent of Public Instruction is to: • As soon as is feasible after the adoption of science content standards, make recommendations regarding the assessment of the newly adopted standards. • Consult with stakeholders, including, but not necessarily limited to, California science teachers, individuals with expertise in assessing English learners and pupils with disabilities, parents, and measurement experts, regarding the grade level, content, and type of assessment. 53
