Volume 6, Issue 1 Graymont Grade School Newsletter NEWSLETTER: September 2014 August 25, 2014 Volume 6, Issue 1 Graymont Grade School Newsletter NEWSLETTER: September 2014 August 25, 2014 The first week of school has gone very well here at Graymont Elementary. I appreciate the student’s eagerness to learn and the way they get along so well together. We have one new employee working with us this Fall. She is Bobbie Ransom, who is serving as a long-term substitute for Jami Hinz in 1 st & 2 nd grade during the first semester. She is from Pontiac. She worked as a substitute teacher last year as she finishes her degree in education. We feel very fortunate to have her working with us. As I enter my seventh year here as Superintendent, I am excited about and so thankful for our fine staff and students. I also want to extend a warm welcome to our new kindergarten students. They are Kole Donze, son of Josh and Debi Donze, Megan Hensley, daughter of David and Elizabeth Hensley, and Emily Mackinson, daughter of Andrew and Heather Mackinson. In addition, we have Scout Minnaert, daughter of Kale and Jodi Minnaert, in 1 st grade; Kendall Pitchford, daughter of Jay and Tracy Pitchford, in 2 nd grade; Kieran Tickle, son of Jay and Tracy Pitchford, in 4 th grade; Hope Millsap, daughter of Dawn Millsap, in 3 rd grade; and Ashley Lauth, daughter of John and Vicky Lauth, in 8 th grade. We hope these new students are getting settled and enjoy being a part of Graymont Grade School. When you come to school, I’m sure you will notice how well the school is maintained. As usual, our custodial staff did a great job of cleaning and preparing the building for the new school year. We hope you are able to attend our PTO Open House on Tuesday, August 26 th. The Open House starts at 6: 00 p. m. and will be followed by a PTO Meeting at 7: 00 p. m. Even if you aren’t able to attend on the 26 th, we hope you will join us for our Pork Chop Dinner fund raiser coming up on September 19 th from 4: 30 – 7: 00 p. m. By the way, if you have an item you would like to donate to the silent auction held at the Pork Chop dinner, please give us a call at 815743 -5346. The spirit of cooperation I have seen here over the years has been terrific. The Rooks Creek School District and Graymont Elementary School have lots of people who care deeply about it and want to see its tradition of excellence continue. With this care and support, I believe we have something truly unique here in this day and age. Thanks in advance for your continued support for the school district and the youth of this community. We are anticipating another great year at Graymont School in 2014 -2015! Bill James
