The 17th of March is a national holiday in Ireland – St. Patrick’s day. On that day people wear a shamrock. It is the national symbol of Ireland.

St.Patrick was born in Wales about AD 385. When he was 16, he was sold into slavery to Ireland. He escaped slavery and later returned to Ireland as a missionary to convert Ireland to Christianity. His mission in Ireland lasted for thirty years.

St. Patrick was a man who had wonderful power. He cleared Ireland of snakes. St. Patrick was the bishop (епископ) of Ireland. He died on March 17 in AD 461. St. Patrick is the patron of Ireland.
