More than 70% of the Earth is covered with water. To successfully overcome these spaces it is necessary to have skilled Navigating Officers being able to handle both the ships and changeable elements.
A Navigation Officer operates both cargo ships and passenger ships. His main task is to pilot a ship in order to ensure safe transits to the port of destination in spite of the weather conditions.
Not everyone can be a good Navigating Officer. A sailing-master must be bold and healthy with a good memory and a good eye. Operating the complex equipment and being responsible for safety of people and cargoes onboard, such a specialist should possess technical thinking and ability to make quick calculations.
Nowadays a seaman must have a good command of English because English is an international maritime language. On ships all the documents, radio traffic and communication in mixed crews are in English.
A Work of a Navigating Officer is difficult, but diversified and thrilled — it is anything but routine.
Who is not attracted by the water beauty of the river landscapes, fresh river air, travelling and change of impressions? Very few people can say that they have a splendid nature landscapes as an office window.
The hardest part of the work, probably, is that the sailors had to endure separation from their families.
