Kazakh State Medical Institute was founded on the 20th of April in 1931 and later was renamed to Almaty State Medical Institute. And in 2001 Kazakh State Medical University named after S.D.Asfendiyarov was awarded the high national status of the university.

It is considered to be the best university of our city and one of the best universities of our country. I realized that I should study there and my parents wanted me to enter it. Now I’m a first-year student.

THE FIRST RECTOR Asfendiyarov Zhafaruly Sanjar (1898-1938) - statesman, historian, professor, founder and first rector of the Almaty Medical Institute (now the Kazakh National Medical University named S.Asfendiyarova). He was member of the First World War. He was born in Tashkent. He was graduated from the St. Petersburg Military Medical Academy.

Nowadays rector is professor Akanov A.A. In 1974 he was graduated from the Medical Faculty of Almaty State Medical Institute. OUR RECTOR

To train doctors in the specialty "general medicine“ was prepared by the State Education Standard. In 2007 was passed the first set of students to the university on a specialty "general medicine".

I am a student in the Faculty of General Medicine. Speaking of the Faculty of General Medicine – I can say that it is one of the most difficult faculties of our university. Usually groups consist of 10 person and it is very easy to see whoever is working or not.

My group Concerning my group I should say that everyone in my group is personality and that’s why it is very interesting to study in such a small group.
