Rules and Regulations

Head butt Please pay attention to head butts and illegal blows since this has been the cause for most cuts. AIBA Technical Rules have changed the rules effective December 19, 2016 to reinforce the prevention of these injuries: 8.3 If a Boxer receives head butting or illegal blows which do not cause an injury or cut, the Referee will give a Warning to the offending Boxer, deducting one (1) point per Judge or may disqualify the offending boxer if actions deemed sufficiently serious to warrant a disqualification. 8.4 If a Boxer receives head butting or illegal blows which cause an injury or cut the Referee must disqualify the offending boxer.

If a boxer receives a Facial Cut due to an Accidental Clash of heads and the Doctor signals that the bout shall be stopped: In the First Round = Technical Draw After the Second Round has started = Winner on Points Facial Cuts – Accidental Clash of heads

If a boxer receives a Facial Cut due to receiving Correct Blows and the Doctor signals that the bout shall be stopped: In any Round = RSC-I Facial Cuts – Correct Blows

The Low Blow rule has changed effective December, 2016. The rule change has to do with the Referee commanding “Time” to allow the boxer up to 90 seconds to recuperate and what happens afterwards. The new rule now allows the Referee the option of either issuing a Caution or a Warning. The old rule required the Referee to give a Warning once he had commanded “Time” and started the 90 second recuperation period. Low Blow

Team Ranking The team which wins three (3) or more of the five (5) bouts in a match will be the winning team Score 5-0 or 4-1: the winning team will get three (3) points and the losing team will get zero (0) points Score 3-2: the winning team will get three (3) points and the losing team will get one (1) point

The amount of Coaches is limited as follows: A maximum of 3 (three) Coaches can accompany the Boxer to the ring Maximum of 2 (two) Coaches may mount the apron Max 1 (one) Coach may enter the ring Coaches duties: Vacate ring and apron prior to the commencement of each round Must be in possession of a towel during the Bout in order to be able to throw the towel Are allowed to speak in low voice to the Boxer, and only to his own Boxer, during the fight Are not allowed to touch the ring, yell or scandal during the fight The discretionary use of vaseline around the eyes or on the face shall be allowed, but the use of this or other oil or lubricant on the arms, legs or body is not permitted Coaches

Competition Equipment

Bandages Tape & gauze and marker to sign the bandage for both teams should be provided by the home team and checked by the WSB Supervisor Tape and gauze shall be given out to the teams by the WSB Supervisor during the technical meeting All bandages shall be applied in the locker room before the start of the bout. Each Franchise Bandage Inspector to cross-check the bandage in order to verify its compliance with AIBA Technical Rules & WSB Competition Rules Bandage technique to be double checked with the coaches of both teams in order to be sure they saw the video and are aware of the rules

Boxing Gloves During the Technical Meeting, the Franchises will give their competition gloves to the Supervisor who will check them and give them back to the Head Coach of each Team, no later than one (1) hour before the start time of the Match. Boxers must put on their gloves in the respective locker rooms in the presence of an authorized Franchisee Bandage/Glove Inspector. Gloves must be signed as well by the Franchisee Bandage/Glove Inspector in the area covered by surgeon tape. Surgeon Tape can be used to seal the gloves for covering the laces, however it should not cover any logos or exceed more than 2 cms above the wrist level of the glove. The gloves shall be taken off immediately after the Bout is over and before the decision is announced, and the bandages will be checked by the Referee

Boxing Gloves Specifications: In accordance with the WSB Competition Rules, only boxing gloves with laces closure systems may be used 10 oz gloves will be used for the 49 kg to 64 kg Weight Categories: Light-Flyweight, Flyweight, Bantamweight, Lightweight and Light-Welterweight 12 oz gloves will be used for the 69 kg to 91+ kg Weight Categories: Welterweight, Middleweight, Light-Heavyweight, Heavyweight and Super-Heavyweight

Competition Uniforms Only approved team uniforms shall be used Inform WSB Supervisor about color short in order to decide the colours for the home and away team Teams must present two different colors to avoid same combinations All WSB and Franchise logos must be 65cm2; Sponsor logos can be maximum 150cm2

Event Presentation

Medical Check + Weigh-In

WSB Supervisor needs to receive passport and WSB Medical Record Book from each boxer before the medical examination Books’ are signed and stamped by the boxers’ Federation? General Medical Remarks (Page 3-8) is properly filled-in, signed and stamped by the Doctor? Annual Medical Examination (Page 9) is filled-in, signed and stamped by the Doctor? WSB Specific Laboratory Tests and Examinations (Page 12) are filled-in, signed and stamped by the Doctor? In case your boxer had a rest period due to KO, RDCH or Injury, medical examination shall be done and the result inserted in page 24 A Boxer shall be clean-shaved before all medical examinations. Beards and moustaches are not allowed. No type of body piercing and no body accessories are allowed to be worn during a bout. Hair may not extend below the neck line Medical Check

Media Weigh-in/Press Conference Layout

If a Boxer exceeds the official weight limit in the Weigh-In he has two hours to get his weight down. If he does not manage the following applies : If the Boxer exceeds or is under the weight limit of his category by 500 grams or less, the Boxer will be permitted to compete in the relevant Match and points for the Bout will be awarded normally. The Boxer and the relevant Franchise may be subject to a fine determined by the AIBA Disciplinary Commission in accordance with the WSB Disciplinary Rules for violating the AIBA Technical Rules and WSB Competition Rules; or If a Boxer exceeds or is under the weight limit of his category by more than 500 grams, the Boxer will not be permitted to compete in the relevant Match and the Bout will be awarded as a win (“Walkover by Overweight”) to the opponent of the Boxer. If both Boxers exceed or are under the weigh limit of their category by more than 500 grams, both Boxers will not be permitted to compete and both Boxers shall be deemed to have lost the Bout (“Walkover by Overweight”). The Boxer and the relevant Franchise may be subject to a disciplinary fine Non compliance of weight limit

If after a bout the Ringside Doctor determines a Boxer requires a restriction period and requires clearance to box again, the Boxer: will receive a Medical Restriction Notification Form will receive a Medical Clearance Form will be suspended on the AIBA Database until clearance is completed an email will be sent to the Boxer’s respective NF, Manager or Franchise with indications Once the AIBA Medical Commission has reviewed the above mentioned documents, the restriction will be either lifted or extended. Please note that no restriction period will be shortened in case of concussions. New Medical Restriction Procedure

Anti-Doping

Anti-doping controls will be conducted. (Passports with the Supervisor) Boxers will be required to sign a confirmation of notification. Boxers who are to be tested may invite a team official to accompany them to the Doping Control Centre (DCC) A selected boxer has a maximum of one hour to report to the DCC from the time of official notification. All selected boxers will be accompanied at all times by a trained chaperone from the time of notification until arrival at the DCC. Boxers are reminded that refusal to provide a sample can render them liable to disqualification and may lead to further disciplinary action Boxers who are required to use prescribed medication for the treatment of a medical condition should ensure that they have registered their medication, where necessary, through the Therapeutic Use Exemption system prior to the match Anti-doping Tests
