The National House in Třebíč The National House in Třebíč

n n The National House, earlier called the Meeting House, is located on Charles n n The National House, earlier called the Meeting House, is located on Charles Square. The National House was built in 1871 and it became the centre of Czech patriotic movement. Apart from cultural purposes, the building also served as a shop and it was a place for financial services. The project of the National House was made by Karel Tebich and the construction was realized by a builder Herzán.

On the ground floor there was a ready-to-wear factory. The most important part of the National House was a big hall. Balls, theater performances, meetings and lectures were held there.

A part of the building served as a bank till 1948. Agrobank opened its branch in the 1990 s. Later it was replaced by GE Money Bank that resided on the ground floor till 2008.

From 1959 the National House was called the House of Enlightenment of Bedřich Václavek.
