Milwaukee’s Growing Power – Growing power… • Headquarter is in Milwaukee, WI – Branch Milwaukee’s Growing Power – Growing power… • Headquarter is in Milwaukee, WI – Branch off to Chicago, IL • Both do different projects, but IL focused more on plants as a whole and projects pertaining to growing plants • Where Milwaukee’s growing power focused on a variety of plants, animals, and where different projects are done

More about Growing Power… • Milwaukee’s Growing Power is a 2 acre farm – More about Growing Power… • Milwaukee’s Growing Power is a 2 acre farm – Where, projects are demonstrated, plants are grown, with many livestock that includes • 6 greenhouses – Such as Livestock, chicken, ducks, turkey, etc – Worm house – Fish farming house used for plants

Projects At Growing Power • Grow – Soil= Important for planting – Use to Projects At Growing Power • Grow – Soil= Important for planting – Use to grow compost/ Vermicompost – Control pest with help from smaller insects and compost tea from bacteria = grow sufficiently – DO NOT use any chemicals. WHY? • May cause effect in food we eat • Aquaponics – Tilapia & Yellow Perch fish are used… – Crops and fish are grown together in a recirculation environment – Plants absorbs the nutrients from fish waste – Plants than reduce the effect of toxic for animals

Continue…. • Bees – Apiary shelter for beehives – Collect nectar • White clover Continue…. • Bees – Apiary shelter for beehives – Collect nectar • White clover and basswood – Uses to make an appealing texture – One hive creates about 150 pounds of honey per year • Vermicompost – Red Wigglers and Red Earthworms are used • to create rich nutrients, fertilizer for organics, and conditioner for soil – 2 Methods used • a worm bin system (walls needed) • a windrow (no walls needed)

Main Greenhouses…. • 1= entrance with market and orientation • 2= plants that contain Main Greenhouses…. • 1= entrance with market and orientation • 2= plants that contain salad mix, beet green, and arugula • 3=contains some green, but mostly worm bins • 4=volunteers sign in along with the bean spouts and sugar canes and greens • 5=new fish tank with aquaponics project • 6= sifting for rich soil, contains mustards, herbs and seedings

Experiences at Growing Power Day 1: We started a new fish project. Day 2: Experiences at Growing Power Day 1: We started a new fish project. Day 2: We use the soil from the worm bin, sift in to greenhouse 3 to get rich nutrients. Day 3: Sifted soil and filled pots with soil. Also, removing plants from greenhouse 2. Day 4: Packing foods in boxes for coordinators to send it to families.
